Before 2017, this Dreamcast Collection contained 4 games. In 2017, Jet Set Radio and NiGHTS into Dreams... were added: https://steamdb.info/sub/18506/history/

Why would you think it is even remotely ok to necro a 7-year-old thread? Please don't do such things again

Is it against the rules to reply to old threads that aren't locked? Just curious. Thanks

It is bad practise... Depends on why. Same bundle again maybe justified. Something materially wrong with bundle then likely acceptable again.

Just some inane comment with spam link... NO!

I wasn't sure if the aggressive response from a moderator meant people could get in trouble in the future for replying to old thread, if he hasn't broke any rules than why such a response from a mod?

Did he break a rule or not? as the mod comes across like he has broken a rule and thus is there a rule in place you can't respond to old unlocked threads, and if you do there is some sort of punishement?

I'll wait for the mod to respond with what the rules are of course.

Pretty much what Ekaros said. Not against the rules, but in every community it is frowned upon to resurrect a 2+ year old topic to add almost nothing of value, especially when it is time-limited as this one

Not against the rules

As of the guidelines update, it is in fact theoretically against site rules:

Unreasonable bumping. When bumping a discussion you should try to ensure it is in the best interest of the community. If you notice our community is not engaging with the content after it has been bumped a couple of times, then you need to stop bumping the discussion unless important new information or updates would make it appropriate to do so.

It is of course up to staff to determine if the information Luckz provided can qualify as "best interest" or "important" or not, but according to established conventions and previous staff discussions, it should classify as a Spam (3 days) suspension So it is against site rules (based on a reading which accepts that repeated bumping is not specifically only in reference to bumps by the user in question), but it is in the realm where you can personally choose to except the violation from punishment.

Rather, if it isn't against site rules, then we need to start pushing cg on it again, since that was one of the things the new guidelines were in fact supposed to address.

That all said, you could classify this for a spam suspension regardless, as there's no clear relevancy between the materials presented and the thread topic, and the aim is clearly not intended to be constructive. So no matter how you look at it, this'd be a suspension avoided by staff leeway, not by lack of rules allowing for penal response.

It is, yes. Guidelines > User Content > #11 (quoted above) was, as I understood it, primarily created for the sake of responding to community complaints over excessive necroing (though it's written to also cover things like excessive self-bumping).

It's also something that's been against basic netiquite since the 90s (that is to say, back when bulletin forums were still a thing), meaning that you're looking at three decades (ie, a full generation's worth) of established social convention. (In fact, just try and pull that in a more toxic environment, like Steam Community, and see what kind of responses you get.)

That said, most forums have an autolock function that kicks in after a few months, so it's certainly in part based on how the site is handled by the site's administration. It's also not against convention to reply to a thread for a relevant purpose, wherein the previous information of the thread is relevant to the new information, which in turn has some importance. For example, on this site it's generally considered acceptable to bump a bundle thread to report an issue with keys (ie, being revoked) within that bundle (hence why the guideline in question is written to except such bumps).

Majority of people today would say that bundle sucked cause every game wasn't tailored for their taste and theirs alone. Yeah there's more games in tier1 then today and it's amazing value for a dollar but the bundle buyers always complained.

Damn, I never knew there were physical items in older HB bundles. That's pretty cool even if very overpriced.

Oh wow!, That's the first bundle I've ever bought. Though I remember it also having Sonic Generations in the BTA tier (cost me about $4)
