It's been a while for a sunset.
I think it was on a multi-day hike 5 years ago.
I climbed up a muddy hill next to the hut I was staying at that night at about 900 meters elevation, from the top you could see a river meandering it's way to the ocean. The sunset colors made it look like it was on fire.

For other beautiful stuff it's been a few months, half day hikes up to waterfalls in some foothills of the Alps.

Unfortunately too long ago, I'd say. Doesn't help that we have constant snowstorms around here lately, so I'm staying inside.

Well there's always a good view of the sunset from my apartment, so I guess a few days ago you could say :)

Sunset? Well, I've never stopped to look at it (or the sunrise). But, sometimes at night, I like to just go to the veranda and look at the stars and the moon and contemplate things.

My parents own a house on Peneda Gerês here in Portugal so me and my friends do something like that every year on the summer, we just sit and build a "fireplace" near a River Beach and stay there until the sunrises. We don't actually "enjoy it as we do a lot of wrong stuff during the night but its still awesome looking. Its worth to mention the sky, it has more stars than I've ever seen in any other place. It is magical I advise anyone coming to Portugal to visit it you wont regret it =)

Considering the daily magnificence of sunsets is one of the Sydney's major traits - must have been somewhere last week. I mean, just look at those... Isn't it mesmerizing?

The article i read was so long ago plus from what i remember its not 100% proven but i found this http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/fact-or-fiction-smog-creates-beautiful-sunsets/ even tho its not giving a straight answer its a lot like the one i read a google search on color pollution tho could be interesting if you like that reading articles like that sometimes when i am bored i pick a subject i like or i am concerned google it and usually i found interesting things, a hint scientific view of paranormal activities is super fun

That's two separate questions. Where I live there's no worthwhile view of the sunset or sunrise. My favorite sunrise was on a beach on a greek island. Across the water, there was an island with a mountain range, and what looked like a v cut out of it. The sun popped up right in between the V. My favorite sunset was in Moorea, looking out over the pacific ocean, while swimming in the lagoon.

That being said, every once in a while I'll pause and enjoy the mundane that everyone takes for granted, such as the leaves in the tree above my head, or, more recently, the fresh snow on the ground.

The latest sunrise or sunset I watched without any distractions was in the game Submerged.

I know it probably doesn't count, but it was amazingly beautiful and besides it is too cold outside for me to watch a real one...for now.;)

Thanks! I wasn't sure how my putting an ingame sunrise/sunset would have been taken, but I am glad to see that everything is cool.:)

I've never played Minecraft, but it looks pretty cool. I hope that it will find it's way to Steam someday (one can hope, right?).

i am not that kind of romantic to watch a sunset but i do like to watch stars if i am somewhere high ( like going to vocation to a small village in the mountains) and the sky is clear it amazes me and i hope one day i get to have a telescope when i do this again

Basically every day currently. I tend to go to sleep at about sunrise and wake up like two / three hours before sunset (and yes, in that order) and I can see them both very clearly from my windows. Sunrises and sunsets are beautiful, I love them.
I also love to watch stars and planets at night. They fascinate me.

The last time I watched the sunrise was from Phnom Bakheng in Cambodia a couple months ago. I see the sunset pretty regularly, since I'm usually working / driving around at the time, though I wouldn't say that's without distraction.

i guess proberly the last time sat down and watched was 2015/07/05, took way to long to rise though & ended up being too late to get the to top of the mountain so maybe wasn't the wised choice but still pretty nice views

A sunset
Not entirely without distraction, but it was only a couple of weeks ago on the beautiful island of Jamaica.

PS I loved the distraction as much as the sunset ;)

You shouldn't watch the sun without proper protection as it can damage your eyes. And for the answer, last time I saw sunrise and sunset was couple of weeks ago, when I either had to let cats outside or call them inside.
I found these photos, sunrise how I saw it 2 weeks ago from my window, and sunset was taken from car day after christmas.

Sunrise, what is that.....i must search for this sunrise you speak of is it in a far far away land??

I have never watched either i never saw the lure of watching the sun set or rise.I have better things to d like sleep or work....or feed the cows or something. You want beautiful then watch life pass you by ...then you will have time to take it all in,but miss living it.

Also you are screwed if you live in a dump like L.A. with all that smog and crap, you better off looking at someone pulling there pants down and mooning you at least that will be a clear shot of something.

P.S. it can be bad for your eyes...speaking of bad for your eyes,it always good to wear sun glasses when there is snow, well for that matter whenever your outside even if it is cloudy, save your eyes so you can watch yourself get old and ugly and stuff.
