Hello Community,

Because of too much gaming i just had a surgery of my lower right hip and mid-line.
I was suffering from Pilonidal Sinus, a disease caused by too much sitting in one position for XX number of hours.

Yes, the surgery was very painful although they gave me spinal anesthesia, but later it was too much painful.
I was on pain killers for like a week and will not be able to sit and walk properly for at least 1 more month.

I go to the hospital for daily dressing of my wounds and YES, dressing is the most scary and painful of these all.

Thanks for listening to my story.

Ouch, that sucks. In fact, one of the reasons I started working out was to avoid back pain from sitting too much :| Wish you a swift recovery.

Anyway i hope you get better soon and start having a more active life.

Technically, gaming can cause all of the above, plus a lots more.
Doing anything excessively WILL result in consequences.

Very true. Sense of measure if my English is correct. I think there must be some better synonym ("moderate" doesn't mean exactly the same as I understand it) but I can't find any.

It's never good to have a sedentary life. Just go for a walk every 2 days or do some exercise in your house for an hour daily if you don't want to go outside, it will save you the pain that the OP had to go through.

It's nice that you shared your experience with everyone and I hope you have a soon recovery ^^

I sit way more hours a day in my office chair at work than at home playing games, so working seems like a far greater danger for this happening to me.

While it sucks to hear you had to go through all of that, I found it funny that you're offering up a game considering the topic of the post. :)
I hope you're doing much better now, don't game too hard!

Also, anyone who takes the time to respond to every single reply in their thread has to be a good person. I want in on this.

A friend of mine went on surgery for the same shit, it was about a year ago. I remember him telling me how painful it was...
Now i think he's more careful.

Apart from taking a break every hours, maybe you should consider getting a better seat. Ever heard about Dx Racer, AKracing (or any others on this category) ?

Anyway, get well soon!

17 Hours straight sitting in same way then i sleep when i wake up again and then straight gaming for almost same amount of hours every weekend. But now everything stopped.

I have to recover first then gaming :) I will take measures and breaks as well this time :)) Thanks

Check out a tool called 'Workrave' that will enforce (skippable) "mini-breaks" every X minutes. It "reminds" you to stand up, walk around, etc. at a configurable interval. It won't work well during an FPS or non-pausable game...but for a strategy or casual game, it works fine.

I use it-- wait for it-- at work. (and sometimes when gaming, but I don't game too much)

i don really get how you guys can sit in one sitting for so long( like 4-5 hours at one go). When i get on my comp, i will normally get up every 1-2 hour to get myself some drinks and go to the toilet.
