Hi there steamgifts people! How are you doing today? Hope fine! Almost like always, i need help in buying something xD Today's riddle is : which graphic tablet should i buy and why? Is the touch function worth it or worthless? I've seen a lot of graphic tablet and i'm really confused on which one is better or which one will stop working after a week xD I would use it for everything related to the "creation of a game". So... I could really use some help in choosing! Thank you for your cooperation XD

PS these are two graphic tablets that i think are "good" (the price difference is abyssal though xD )

1) Huion H610 Pro
2) Wacom Intuos Pro Small

Wacom's great, but you should probably opt for the cheaper one. Functionality is really all you need, and if the tablet has a good track record, then there shouldn't be any issue.

The problem is that I don't really know if the Huion is good :(

Did you look at the reviews? You can also do some research on it.

I have a Wacom Intuos 5 Medium. Beautiful tablet, and perfect for what I was using it for! (drawing mainly) I have no idea about that other brand.

Both are pretty well known and are pretty good. Wacom tablets are generally more for professional use though. It really is up to you and your wallet.

What about the "active area" ? is it better a small or a larger one?

I bought the cheapest Wacom, which was a Graphire 4 (pic not taken by me) about 8 years ago and it still works like new. Imagine how a higher end Intuos would be!

Well that depends on what you want to do with your tablet. For smaller pictures and not so professional output you don't need very big active area (A6 is enough). But if you want to produce more professional artworks and those that would look great in a print, than the bigger would be needed.
Generally the bigger the active`area is the better. Your lines are more precise and steady.

But also Wacom is usually seen as having better tablets than any other company on the market. It is a proven quality with many unique patents that n one other has.

I would personally recommend you buying that Wacom one, even if there is a smaller active area. Buying cheap and big tablet sounds like there will be a lot of drawbacks. You should rather buy some lower class of Wacom tablets - Bamboo. It is still a decent piece of hardware.

Yes, i think i'll follow your advice, even if maybe i'll go with a lower class one. In the end, i think i'm not going to produce some "professional artworks" hahahaha I'll use it to do some concept for a videogame and some 2D characters, i think an Wacom Intuos Pen And Touch Small should do the trick, right? :)

I believe that this will be a great choice for your type of intended work:)

I personally have quite old version of Wacom Bamboo (about six to seven years) and I'm still using it for normal drawing and graphical works. I hope you will be happy with your choice too:)

Just dropping by to say that my Wacom Bamboo is still laying on my desk aftre more than 8 years, and it's still alright and working fine, even though it was a 30$ one! Would definitely recommend Wacom!

i have a monoprice tablet(a rebranded huion, Product ID: 10594) and I love it. I'm more of a hobby artist so I dont use it every day but the sensitivity is great and I'm glad I got the larger screen size, it makes it easier for detailing and navigating especially since i tend to work zoomed in. I've also been really impressed with the layout and side buttons, they're really intuitive for me and helpful.

I was going to say go with the Wacom Intuos, but after looking at the other one it seems like that might be the way to go based off the price, the specs and the reviews.

Yeah the price is really good for what they offer, the only thing i don't know is if that Huion pro is a good product xD

I'm not sure what to suggest but one thing i'd be careful about it's the driver support. I used to have a non wacom relatively "cheap" graphical tablet and every driver that i could find on it's website and elsewhere on internet didn't work, except the one they provided me on a disk in the box(that was old and sometimes buggy). Also, the software support, it didn't work well on everything for example on gimp was unusable.
Just think about it and also consider if you need the features of this wacom tablet or if a lower class wacom tablet will suit you anyway.
