I have been looking at the 1TB Oled Steam Deck but I am worried about it not being what I need or should buy

First off I would like to ask a few questions to people who own or use or used a Steam deck about what they think is the pros and cons of the device

I would also like to know if there is a list people trust for games that work and what doesn't I was looking at some but they all look different - best I like so far is https://checkmydeck.ofdgn.com/ is this a good one to check with and also is their a way to remove the VR games from the numbers and list

I would also like to know if it is possible to connect it to the TV for multiplayer games

I would also like to know which Steam Curators to follow for Steam Deck lists (if any)

Finally (for now) I need to ask about storage as I have heard loading games from a SD is a good option for extra space is it simply load the game on to one and run it or is it harder and more complicated?

Thanks in advance and anything else to note please say since I am a noob on handhelds (other than my old GBA and DS systems)

Do you own a Steam Deck?

Yes - love it
Yes - dislike it
No - don't want one
No - would do if I had the money
No - but I do have a Steam handheld system (please explain which and why please)

I had a 512GB when that was the biggest, but had to get the OLED special edition when they announced it and sold my old one to my sister. We both absolutely love them (but I play mine more, I'm pretty sure X).
Anyways, pros are it's really convenient and easy to use out of the box, but has desktop mode to let you access other tools to tinker with which is needed to allow some games to work. I might need to get an SD card for mine soon since I filled up my TB, though I'm sure there's a lot of games I don't need installed atm, haha. It's great when traveling, but most of the time I like to use it when my family or I are using the tv to watch something, since my more powerful computer is hooked up to that.
I have been wanting to get a Deck Dock for my room so I can hook it up there to charge and play on my TV with wired internet, but haven't gotten it yet. There's plenty of other hubs you can use to connect to a TV, but most I've seen are more expensive for less versatility, as most don't have an ethernet port, or a bit cheaper for way less, such as just an HDMI connection and sometimes no power passthrough.
I don't know about curators or lists, I usually just look at the verified status, which has wildly varying accuracy, and sometimes workarounds online.

But yes, I am very happy with my Steam Deck.

I do own the 512 GB Steam Deck (OG version day 1) and I was surprised how my priorities shifted. At first I thought I'd use it as travel device but ever since I started working from home 100%, my PC has also become my working machine. The Deck is the perfect thing to get away from the PC, maybe even play something different for a change. For example, I tend to play more Visual Novels or jrpgs on the Deck because it doesn't require lots of hectic inputs.

However, since Valve added the option to manually adjust the screen to 45hz and other goodies, I started playing bigger titles like Elden Ring. Of my 360 hours, 60 were on the deck, I think. Looks buttery smooth with locked 40hz and medium - high settings. In the end, it is a great device for travels, if you either keep it running smaller games or also invest into a good battery (Mine can 2,5xtimes recharge the deck) but I wouldn't neglect the option of chilling at home. Best games I played on the Deck so far were the usual suspects like Hades and 8-Bit Adventures 2 but I also played stuff like the new RoboCop. In a way, playing on deck is way more immersive for (slow) first person games than playing them on the PC which also gave me another 50 hours of Skyrim with actual satisfying melee combat.

Where to check if a game is running on the Deck? --> Proton.db and Steam Discussions. Actually, before I buy a game, I go into the discussions and search for "Steam Deck" in all topics. Most of the time, other people tried the game beforehand and provide a good overview of what to expect.

Addendum: I use my deck extensively for emulating games via emu deck. Played many games from my childhood and those I couldn't afford back then (looking at you, Xenogears). It's brilliant, really. The setup was pretty easy and there are great guides online, for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5r2WZAImuY
