Also out of curiosity, is there any kind of warning when you win anything? I never know if I should bother to check the "Won" tab because I figure there'd be something beside it to warn me if I won anything.

Ok. I know the green bar on desktop. But mobile, does the app show something?

Indeed, it does. A message pops up that you are a winner of a giveaway and u can see it in "Won GAs" tab.

It feels like this pretty much https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEjgnXxcu34 . I used to have a winning pattern of every months , then that changed really.

Depends on the game. I won Septerra Core and Sniper Ghost Warrior 2. The former had a giveaway of a few hundred people and costs 5 bucks on Steam, so I wasn't that thrilled, but as for the latter, wining a 20 dollar game in a giveaway with over 4k people...yeah, it does feel pretty good, like getting high(just assuming, cause I never actually got high in my life, I'm too much o a nice guy :D ).

you get this email: "You received a gift on steam" then you're like: "WTF? did one of my friends decide to buy me a game?" then you see that the gift is from someone you don't know, you check the note and it says you've won a giveaway!

When I won borderland 2 after a extremely hard puzzle of logic on english (wtb english is not my native lenguaje) I trully cried...

Be patient for your first win, is just a matter of time.

Special, like an Arizona sunrise or a juniper wet with dew. A light rain in the middle of a dusty afternoon or a hug from your dear old aunt.

First of all you are very exited that you have won something, but when you look what is it and you think "pfff... i did not even want it"

Don't enter for games that you do not want... That's just a waste.

well, sometimes there is just no games that you want, so I enter random ones to use the points

It's like if you don't use the points you loose them. I thought it's an obvious thing. Ok, looks like it's just me...

I think many of us started that way, trying to spend all the points. It's easy to be overcome by greed for games... :)

But I'll bet you already have enough steam games to last 10 years... :) Why try to win something you would hate, or never play? Let that horrible game go to someone who might actually enjoy it... :)

I'm using all the points. But then my lib is not that huge yet, so there's enough that interests me (wishlist is 100+).

But I'd never enter a giveaway that I wouldn't also want to play. If I don't see something that I'm already interested in, I go with stuff that looks that way (from the icon). And check the Steam store page before entering.

I'd never enter for, say, Bad Rats. I'd take a bad game from a masochist who'd "enjoy" it!

I am usually at 300 because why enter for something you don't want? Kinda mean to the people who want it....

Agree with you and fiftykyu. But there's two sides to that. Not saying its right but a couple thoughts I had reading both your posts...

Yes, it is easy to get overcome by greed and probably 95%+ people start out entering for any game they heard of and not played. Khalaq is kind of the only exception I know to that "rule".

I don't enter as many giveaways anymore as I used to but still enter more than I should and I wish i could be better about that. But I rarely see games I'd be interested in so when I'm at 250 points day after day, I get tempted to jump in on some others. (and lest anyone think I'm only interested in AAA and expensive games, thats not it at all.) In my groups, i'm extremely picky about what I enter for and often times the groups break up eventually anyways. I travel for my job so those "participation" groups that do seem to last are out. And its fine, I'm just saying I sometimes enter for games I may not be gung ho about but do sound interesting, especially if its turn based rpg or strategy.

Anyways, the other thought I had is it'd be great if people only entered for what they'd want but thats not the case. I've entered maybe 4 Fallen Enchantress giveaways and the winners of those have not played it last time I checked (my highest wishlisted game and at this point, I'm gonna buy next time its 75% off). So when you guys say things like you'd rather a giveaway were to go to someone who might enjoy it or want it, I wonder how often that actually happens around here. Of course it happens obviously, I just don't think its a very frequent occurrence. Hopefully I'm wrong about that but seeing the greed and entitlement often from gamers, its made me a bit jaded.

You make my life bright cuz you shine
It's me and you baby, it's our time
I'm livin my dream girl cuz you mine
You got me skipping down the street
And singin love songs all outta key
I didn't smoke nothin, but i feel so high
And i know why
It's a love thang, it's got to be
Your hearts all locked and i got the key
It feels like i just won the lottery
Cuz i got my girl and she got me
You my new obsession, all i want to do, you my new obsession girl.
