Have you tried to use a Win installation disc for reparing the partition?

If you don't care about the information on it and simply want to try and restore the HDD to a working state I would download Gparted, copy to a USB or burn to a DVD and use that to erase the corrupted partitions and reformat it to whichever filing system you'd like.

I'm not totally sure what you're hoping to accomplish, so hopefully that was what you wanted.

I had a similar issue with the symptoms you described, I ultimately gave up and just resorted to wiping it as there wasn't anything of importance on it.

A quick search found this, without knowing what knowing exactly what the error you're experiencing is it's hard to help.

We know you can't mount it, but have no clue what it's telling you.

As I had said, it's hard to make suggestions as all we know is "I can't mount an NTFS drive".
