fallout's war should have been in skyrim. dovikin really cant take over a faction or raise a subfaction up to a legitimate contender or destroy both sides? the huge roll some random courier plays makes sense for the dragonborn, and I'd have been much more ok with the extremely minor impact we have in skyrim if i was jsut some wastelander

even the followers had much more depth in newvegas(like thats difficult, most cardboard cutouts are just as good as a bethesda npc). guess thats the difference obsidian makes vs bethesda. too bad they didn't do skyrim

I prefer the fallout world over the elder scrolls... so I'd have to go with New Vegas... but really just play both. But definitely New Vegas > Skyrim

New Vegas is the better game imo, its pretty much the pinnacle of open world modern RPGS. Make sure to get some of the awesome mods made for it also, the games huge on its own though,

If you are just playing the Vanilla game, then New Vegas. If you plan to incorporate mods, then New Vegas. If you are only able to afford one or the other, New Vegas. I highly recommend Skyrim as well, though.

I enjoyed New Vegas way more than Skyrim, but I'm a big Fallout fan so I may be a little biased :p. If you like RPG with guns then New Vegas is your game. I loved the story in NV as well, in contrast I found Skyrim to be pretty boring.

Why not both?

If you can't afford both, buy Skyrim first and New Vegas after. I think Skyrim was slightly better

Skyrim's quest system means that you will never run out of quests to do, thanks to its 'radiant' system. It invents simplistic quests procedurally. Skyrim is an epic-scale medieval freeroam RPG. The first Elder Scrolls game was released in 1992.

Fallout New Vegas has far more quests in the base game when compared to Skyrim Legendary Edition, and FNV's DLC just adds to that awesomeness. FNV offers both an RPG and an FPS experience. The Fallout universe has its roots in a game called Wasteland, which released in 1988. The first Fallout game released in 1997.

There is an extensive modding community surrounding both games. Modders have added items from various fantasy settings to Skyrim, and they've added a lot of real-world firearms to New Vegas. They've added plenty of new companions and quests to both, and a number of them are fully voiced with decent voice acting.

There are extensive bugs in both games, even after all these years. Modders have fixed the majority of the bugs in both titles.

I have both games. I've 100% completed FNV's various storylines, completed every quest, unlocked every achievement, and I still play it sometimes.

I think you will be happy with either one, If I could get FNV guns in Skyrim, the choice would totally be clear. I hear there are people working on that.

Don't listen to people who say that FNV is too grey, too green, too orange, or too brown. There are plenty of lighting mods to fix that, and I highly recommend Project Reality just because it makes the game look so much better on an average PC that any top-end PC can without it.

I played Fallout 3 and New Vegas for about 200 hours (total) before I got Skyrim. Skyrim has been nice. It's the same thing as Fallout but with swords, magic, and dragons. After playing it, I don't get all the hype around it. I mean, if someone never played Fallout 3 or New Vegas, then I could see that person thinking Skyrim is amazing. But I don't get why people who have Fallout 3 and New Vegas act like Skyrim reinvented the wheel.

I played Morrowind. If I didn't play Fallout 1 and 2, I would have said that Fallout 3 was Morrowind HD with guns and radiation.

I'm with you on playing FO3/FNV for ages before playing Skyrim, but I don't see them as being comparable apples-to-apples.

They're both 3D first-person (optionally) free roam RPGs. Both include melee and ranged combat. Both include stealth. Both include healing items. Both have more quests than any BF/COD casual gamer can wrap their heads around.

It's like comparing Twilight to the Bible, in that both have a savior, both have that savior rising from the grave, both deal with supernatural activity, both have a female who many fans wish they could make disappear, both are very divisive in today's world, both are very damaging to the self esteem of women, both are used to groom minors as willing sexual assault victims, both are hidden from view by some people when visitors come over, both were found in a bargain bin at a store near me this week.

I would love to see FO3/FNV's VATS targeting system in Skyrim. Being able to cripple a mage's hands, one of a Two-Handed weapon user's arms, or one leg of a high-health target who is running away would completely change many encounters.
