Different person is working on development as far as I understanding. But some of his ideas might get transferred to Rebirth, at least according to the article.

mmmm I guess due to the massive spread of the original Isaac a cheap dlc would gather quite some money, but yet the new game is out they should just patch a few bugs and move on with Rebirth.

Looks like a trick to raise awareness of the game - people will be pissed off since it's not for Rebirth and they'll spread the news, then Mcmillen/Nicalis will come to save the day and announce it'll actually be for the new game or for both).

Florian isn't working on Mewgenics, that's Tommy Refenes. Florian actually worked on a lot of Edmund's old Flash games, so Ed asked him if he wanted to work on a week long game jam and Isaac was born.

This is a bit pointless as either most made the leap to Rebirth or those want rebirth stuff on the game. Not suer how much 'room' the game has for another bit of DLC considering the flash format's limits were nearly reached with WoL. But I'll keep my eyes out for it as I'm planning on trying to 100% the original before working more on rebirth.

It always depended from the luck of which items do you get. Before update you also could get bad items and die on the 3-4 floor if random was completely against you. Now it just got a bit harder. On the other hand you may become more powerful than before update because the drop of useful items (like eternal hearts) is increased too. If you could win the game (beat the Chest) with any item set, room and monsters layout (and all other random factors) before update - then you're really cool. But I'm almost sure that it is impossible (with hard mode off).

I seem to get only shitty items on hard, and eternal enemies are often too unfair to deal with. I won like 90% of my runs before, now I can't get even to the womb

I had 3 games yet. 1 - Chest finished (had Epic Fetus :D), 2 - fail on Mom's Heart, 3 - Sheol finished. So, smth like 66% at the moment.
But I agree that some enemies have too much health. I was killing final boss in Sheol during 5-10 minutes.
