Hi

Rules (SGTools):

  1. Level 2+
  2. Less than 200 games won
  3. Wishlisted before 2016-09-26 hint or NEW! Wishlisted original game before 2016-09-26
  4. Less than 500 wishlisted games
  5. Less than 1500 games owned on Steam
  6. You must not own the original game
  7. Finally, the usual rules: all wins activated, not multiple wins.

Solution:

ITH answer: after you translate the question from base64 to text, the correct answer is the wishlist date of the original game: 2015-03-26 (in my wishlist).

Other answers were also added as valid ones because of a time zone problem: 2015-03-25 and 2015-03-27

Bump for a nice puzzle!
Rule for whishlisted date is good, also for old dates. I like it. I personally saw this game for the first time only on SG, after registering, this December, so I don't qualify anyway, and it is not a problem

However, too much custom rules is too much. "Less than 500 games in wishlist" -> some people use this tool lavishly for a lot of diverse reasons. Yes, nice try to limit people who just can add whole steam in wishlist to pass filters, but everything has exceptions.

"Less than 200 games won", yes it usually comes to people who just enter every GA possible, spending all the points every day, but I guess there is a lot of old-timers with sent:won > 10+ with 200+ wins, who wouldn't deserve to be thrown out like a lowest leechers :)

"Owned less than 1500" too, 1500 doesn't mean that person is simply collector of game icons (or anything else, that idea was here to filter out).

I'm saying this only to deliver a message that people are different, and a lot of limitations, even if they seem reasonable for some core target audience in your mind, will include only people who think and behave as you do, or happened to fit by luck/circumstances. It's up to GA creators of course not to care about exceptions. They are too few to care, probably?

Thanks at least for attempt of being just ;3

I respect your opinion but the "wishlisted before..." rule is useless without "less than X games in your WL" rule because I saw lots of users with 3000+ games in their wishlist. They are obviously using it wrong because they don't really want (to play) all those games.

That hint was about the date format: YYYY-MM-DD

The poll was another hint itself :)

How we were supposed to find the characters for ITH? I am relatively new here and usually bad at this kind of puzzles, so sorry if it's really obvious :/

you should always give the source code a good lookover on puzzle threads in general. Hopefully orono won't mind me telling you that now that the giveaway is over

The last characters were hidden in the OP, you need to check the source code to find them. More info

Thank you guys, I realised that all this time I was using the wrong thing : right click and then the "Inspect Element" option.
This has worked for a couple of past puzzles I have found here, but I never tried the "View selection source".
I really appreciate this :)

'Inspect element' works too if you expand the branches but in Firefox is faster to use 'view selection' instead.

Yes actually I am using Firefox. I don't really know how to expand the branches so from now on I will use the "view selection" option. Maybe I will google the thing with the branches and find out, but anyway thanks again for the useful info!

You are awesome! Now I understand how it works, I even checked the OP and found the ITH characters myself. The gif was really helpful :) Sorry for all the extra work I put you to though.

Well there was my problem. I knew that the original Ori had to do something with the answer on ITH, but I didn't check your wishlist because I thought that you might've already had the game. I ended up putting the original Ori release which was March 11th rip.

Basically I inserted many dates, then also converted said dates into base64 and other ones (binary etc), only to not even have the correct date.

There was a hint in ITH if you waited for 3 hours. The hint was almost the solution itself if you guessed the correct date. Also, if you translated the question from base64 to text, it was clear enough what I was asking for.

I dismissed stuff related to the original game because at first "or NEW! Wishlisted original game before 2016-09-26" wasn't posted, seemingly anything related to the original ori wasn't being considered, or secondary answers maybe. I tried announcement dates, your wishlisted dates for ori definitive edition, even saw the definitive edition coupon in your inventory and tried all dates related to it, expiry, the date when you could've possibly gotten the coupon in the first place( yes even after knowing what the question was).

Then I got frustrated with a tableflip of course(especially waiting after 3h for a hint) and didn't attempt anything with the original version. Man that was misleading.

Man that was misleading.

Not at all, I did not mention "Definitive edition" anywhere:

  • Thread title: Ori
  • ITH title: Ori and the Blind Forest

I was clearly talking about the original game, the question was straightforward.

I tried announcement dates, your wishlisted dates for ori definitive edition (...)

You did not try to answer to the question then, unless you didn't translate the question from base64 to text in the first place, so you were trying random answers to an unknown question ;)

No, your question was Wishlisted before... which could mean a lot of things, not necessarily the date on your steam wishlist. As I've said wayyy before, I was probably overthinking by a lot. I even tried reversing dates back to base before the hint. I swear I only gave up because of waiting for 3 HOURS for a hint. Please make it less next time. Don't get me wrong, it was a cool simple puzzle, I think it was the 3 hours that made me real irritated.

"I was clearly talking about the original game"
The requirements were to have the definitive edition wishlisted, subsequent comment discussion posts did not help in my defense.

You're pretty new here, I suggest you to check old puzzles, this was probably one of the easiest ever posted in this category. 3 hours is nothing for a puzzle that lasted a week.

You can easily find puzzles here with 15-20 ITH questions and you need to answer all of them to get the link.
