Is there a point as a gamer where your love for games has developed so much that you can enjoy games from bad to horrendously awful games and still enjoy them cause you can laugh at how horrible/bad it is?

Cause I know i'm doing this with Afterfall Insanity, The Scourge Project: ep 1 and 2, and Legendary.
Those games are so stupidly bad, it's so amusing.

What do you peeps think? Also Jerma985 is a pretty good example of what i'm talking about. (his non-tf2 vids)

Well, there's glitchy/buggy bad, and then there's bad bad...
The first one is often enjoyed by gamers all over the place, the latter... not so much.
Also, if you go into a game actually expecting it to be really good (hyped or otherwise), either/any kind of bad could probably ruin it for you.

Goat Sim would easily fall into the category, but since it's on purpose I'm not sure if it's even fair to count it.

I dont really find bad things entertaining or enjoyable, this goes for games as well, but I tend to have a high tolerance for things that others seem to think are bad Legendary, for one. I thought that game was alright, a bit linear in level design but on a whole the story was ok and the action was ok as well. it sure had some nice creature designs and some pretty good graphics for when it came out.

Afterfall Insanity was also not awful imo, if the voice acting was improved a little bit, and maybe the melee combat animations and hitboxes were a little better, I would say it was a pretty good game overall.

anyway, things I find bad are just frustrating, and i never find them funny to say the least. that goes for movies and books as well. things like B movies are just un-watchable to me. on that note the worst game I have had the unfortunate experience of starting was probably Stalin Vs. Martians. not enjoyable in the least.

I don't do that. I watch someone else laugh at how terrible they are. I think you should give allshamnowow a watch. His recent wheelman LP was gold.

I can enjoy 'bad games' now but not terribly bad games.

I like Ace Combat Assault Horizons.

Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City.

Its kind of a guilty pleasure game for me because the idea of playing as Umbrella soldiers is pretty cool but the way how it was executed was rather poor and lackluster.

Takeshi's Challenge.

Pretty much every unlicensed NES game.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned "Big Rigs" yet. Or Superman 64.

Soldner: Secret Wars. Although it seemed very ambitious in 2004, the end-result was a big flop. The game had horrendous bugs, awful AI and poorly modelled everything. Still, it provided for some hilarious MP. Also, I think it's gone F2P now.

I don't think Legendary is laughably bad. It's just plain bad. Tedious and annoying and I wouldn't recommend anyone play it...EVER. But if you want a game that really is the epitome of bad games and you an laugh a lot playing it, I'd recommend Ride to Hell: Retribution. This game has already achieved a legendary status for how bad it is. Many are calling it the worst game ever made. Never played it myself, but it's actually so bad, you can get good laughs just by watching YouTube videos of people playing it.

It depends a lot on in what way it's bad. Some games are broken in such a way that you can just laugh at them, be it due to horrible bugs or poorly thought out gameplay. I rarely beat such games, but I can have some fun with them. Limbo of the lost is one such example. It's filled with horrible design choices, poor voice acting, bugs and it's in general just bad. The controversy surrounding it just adds extra icing on the cake. But all of these faults results in a lot of unintended humor.

On the other hand, if a game just feels like a poor mans "insert popular game here", with uninspired level design, boring enemies & weak sound effects, then it's just bad but not in a funny way. A lot of uninspired shooters seem to fall into this category (like Legendary, Chernobyl Commando and so on), though shooters obviously don't have monopoly on being plain bad.
