I got home from work and saw the new item in inventory popup from steam.

It turns out I had a new game put into my inventory, and it was the one mentioned in the title.

Obviously I cant be sure but my personal guess is this is double fine trying to make up for the space base catastrophe as I do have that in my library (and recently wrote a negative review of it for steam).

Did it happen to anyone else or am I just special and got a random free game that was coincidentally by the people I recently said I would not buy any more games from?

Side note: sorry if this was asked earlier I was at work most of the day.

Thanks for answering buddy.

Honestly to my mind regardless of what they said they sounds more like damage control for space base than being nice.

i just heard about free hack n slash for spacebase purchasers and i was ready to feel a little better about spacebase getting abandoned, but then i found this post with the link saying i don't get hack n slash because i bought the double fine weekly sale. i already owned all the other games but bought it for spacebase, and now it feels like i've been screwed twice. hopefully double fine will come around and add it for indirect purchases -- i can wait.

looks like they are working with humble to get it added for people who bought through there. it's not terribly specific whether it is only humble widget purchases or includes bundles: http://steamcommunity.com/app/246090/discussions/0/613940109930003685/?tscn=1414461518#c613940109979799359

Been wanting that game for a while but I am not sure if it's worth getting until a larger price drop. I don't think it's worth it for the bundle either because of all the negative Spacebase DF9 reviews. Regardless, I will still probably purchase the bundle and regret it later.

Yup, the game appeared in my inventory amidst a bunch of coupons.

First thing I did was check on the game's page to make sure that wasn't a mistake, but it turns out early buyers of Spacebase (on Steam only) gets Hack & Slash for free and vice versa. Considering it was a wishlist item of mine, I'm very happy about it.

Dang it, that never happens to me. H&S seems like a pretty sweet game, the kind of games I do like to play.
Enjoy it for me, would ya?

Well, it makes sense; girfriends (girls, women) get everything, it's like goodluck materialized inside them at birth.
This is no macho BS; Seriously thinking of getting a nice round pair, some naughty clothes, done! instant +karma+ plus everyone would be nice and kind and sofocate me with presents without me doing anything! that's how the world works now, times has change, women have the power XD

Got mine last night. A copy of Spacebase DF9 suddenly appeared in my inventory, although I didn't have Hack and Slash to begin with.

did you buy any double fine games from steam store as opposed to bundle?

Everyone who had Spacebase: DF9 was given a free copy of Hack and Slash to make up for the fact that development on it was ended early.

And, inexplicably, everyone who had Hack and Slash was given a free copy of Spacebase: DF9, I guess so they wouldn't feel upset at other people being given it for free?
