That's what I got. I spend about $75 on it. It works for what I need it to do.

+1
I had the chance to toy around with my mother's 520 and I've found it very good. And surprisingly enough I've also found Win 8 to be better than either Android ICS (my phone) and iOS (my mom's iPad).
But if you do everything through Google, you'll probably be better off with an Android device, as you get the most integration possible. :)

I agree. The thing about windowsphone is the cheapest device will work as good as the flagship so you only miss out on some features. Microsoft tests everything on low end devices to make sure there are no freezes. You really can't go wrong with WP. Besides, now there's a steamgifts app for it.

I just got a Samsung S4 Mini on a cheap contract, so it cant be too expensive (although I have no idea about $$$ prices). Its a pretty good phone compared to my old Huawei Ascend Y100.

For those money I would recommend you second hand phone with left 1,5 years+ warranty. Like Nexus 5. I own one myself and it's exactly the S5 with lower MP camera and 0,2ghz less processor clock (you can overclock your nexus anyway). And when I said that, I remember I promised a giveaway when I posted a thread like that, so I just got money and I'll do a classic giveaway in few mins. :P

I said about the camera, memory isn't big factor here (at least for me and almost everyone, since there are 50gb+ cloud services, water + dust proof is bullshit, because makes the device big as shit for nothing + nexus 5 also passed water test on youtube, after few minutes only the speaker was not working. IPS screen is better, if you don't know. Smaller battery - yeah, but again I've got 30$ battery pack and I use the phone over 24 hours overall screentime without recharging and still have 40-50% left. So yeah, for double lower price (let's say +50$ for battery pack) you get exactly what S5 has. And S5 has WAAAAAY slower updates and A LOT of bloatware.

Probably best to ask PC gamers, people who know about tech.

Oh.. so paying 200 for a phone is cheap? Mine worth around 10.

I got a 25 bucks one with dual sim. No idea what kind of phone it is, but as far as making phone calls goes, its as good as a 200 bucks one. The 175 dollars left can go to books or travels.

Nexus 4 aren't made anymore. :/ Everyone sells them for like 300$.
Nexus 5 is 350...

Do you really need a $200 phone? That is what you really need to ask yourself. I've gotten by on sub $100 phones the past five years. Before that it was sub $50. It's a phone, I need it to text and make calls. All this other fancy shit, no thanks. My computer does that better, I don't need to spend $500 on an iphone or a Galaxy S4 or whatever to do a bunch of stuff I can do elsewhere. Also if you drop it or lose it. That's all that money, gone.

I use a flip phone still. It can make calls, text, take pictures, record video, and hold music. Paying extra for not only initially for a smart phone, but also monthly for a data plan just seems really dumb to me. I have a gps in my car already, and its not a hassle for me to wait until I am around a computer... anyones computer, to look something up. And no, I'm not old. I'm 21. It just seems like a scam to me. Pay a ton extra for all this stuff that will make no significant impact on your life. I also think things like twitter, instagram, kik, snapchat, and all those other things are really dumb. I use facebook to keep in touch with people, or I call or text them if I want to talk to them. I don't need like 10 different ways on a phone to communicate. Just my thoughts. I only pay $40 a month, whereas my sister is paying close to $100 a month for her iPhone

The convenience of having internet access, email, and a usable web browser is significant...not to mention many people don't have dedicated GPS units. I really don't understand your arguments to be honest. Extra ways to communicate? It's more about having access to information on the go. And for reference, I'm paying $30 a month with 5GB data.

How do you manage not talking on the phone for more than 3 minutes a day? That's the only problem I'd have. I'm not even that much of a talker but quick calls add up.

I had a plan like that and it was easy. I work in a call center, so after talking to people for 8+ hours a day the last thing I want to do is talk on the phone some more. I'm more likely to communication via email, IM or text and only call when that isn't an option or it's something where I do need a more immediate response, like I'm about to head out to a store and want to confirm they have an item in stock or are even open if it's a holiday.

The Moto G sounds like it might be the right choice for you. Here's a Youtube review of it by one of my favorite techies. You could always take your chance on a used or refurbished phone as well. If you've got the time go ahead and check sites like SlickDeals or TechBargains routinely and something will pop up sooner or later.

The question is... what mobile phone do you want?
Really if you want phone just for talking with good battery than go for the old ones such as: Nokia 6310i, Nokia E71 or Nokia 3310. Sadly you won't find brand new models of those phones... but you can probably find old used one in good shape.
If you want great phone for playing... than go for Vita :p you can use skype for free (yaaay <kiddin>)
If you want great modern phone with looooooooots of features than import sharp from Japan.

I only want to spend 200 dollars on a phone.(I refuse to pay anything super pricey, :P) I have no contract, and need a phone with a sim card slot.
Currently thinking about the Moto G, also thinking about the Samsung Galaxy S III mini and slightly thinking about the Nokia 520.
Which one should I get? Or can you think of a better phone for 200ish dollars?
Thanks for the help. Here's a small giveaway
