Nah it tells us something about himself, normaly people seeking attention like this is neglected by parents and kids on the same age, its a natural way for him to get his social kick..

Ofc, that does not exclude that he got a boring life either, but we can't know that for sure.

Me on the other hand.. I am pretty bored.. life is so boring when you don't have lectures.
