And I'm waiting for next season to finally watch Fate/SN as I'd heard the original anime was done by a different studio than F/Zero and was very clearly lacking in the budget department. This F/SN remake coming up is done by the same people as F/Zero so I'm eager to see that kind of quality again.

As for Higurashi na Naku koro ni - I've watched like half of the episodes, it was nicely drawn, the plot was great, but it was too complicated for me at that time - too many mindfucks, timeshifts, alter-stories and such made me abandon this anime. One day I will definitely give it another go, that's certain. But not yet. I loved the opening much, though :)

Yup it'll do that, but that's why they have the second season "Kai". All of the mindfucks and questions that you will definitely have from watching the first season, get succinctly answered in Kai. Definitely worth looking into. It's the show that got me back into anime.

The Irresponsible Captain Tylor is strongly recommended, for a great story, great characters, great humor at times, great soundtrack. It's one of my all-time faves, and it gets very good reviews, as for example, this site http://www.themanime.org/viewreview.php?id=345. If/when you check this out, keep in mind to watch the series that doesn't have OVA in the title (first). It's the 2nd series, and if you love the original series, then you might like the OVA one, but it has a very different style and is much slower moving.

i enjoyed fist of the northstar and i'm a fan of one piece. i like the anime, original voices of course, but the manga fits me better. ah, and of course golden boy. now as im thinking about it, vision of escaflowne was pretty nice too.

I honestly don't even think I would have liked Kill La Kill at all if I wasn't extensively aware of Gainax shows.

If you want to watch some newer shows try Tokyo Ghoul (If I were you I'd read the manga because they don't do things in order in the show and they cut out some scenes). It just ended last week and its second season is coming out in January. Aldnoah Zero is also a really good one. It's a sci-fi mecha show, but the mechs for the most part are slow and clunky like how a mech should be. The cool part is that it's a 100% original piece of work. No light novels or manga (well the manga is being released now after the show) and it's also getting its second season this January. Another really good recent one would be The irregular at magic high school. The main character is a beast. Also Akame Ga Kill is REALLY gory, but it's really good. Just don't get attached to a single character unless it's the main character. If you want to watch some other good anime just add me on steam and I'll be willing to list you some more good shows.

attack on titan (anime, and bought the mangas), sword art online (bought the collector box), spice and wolf (got the normal dvd).
Why did i include i bought them? Because there are too many people glorifying or bitching about a series without having spent any money, and therefore with no right of complaining. That would be like bitching about a cracked game.

Only problem I have with anime merchandise is that they're not cheap. You're talking about up to around $60 for 12 or 24 episodes which is a rip off since I can buy a video game for a lot less and it'll last a lot longer. Plus I can just watch it online for free. I'd love to support these studios, but until japan realizes that people aren't made of money then I won't be buying anything.
Hell the Aldnoah Zero soundtrack is $40 and there are only 20 songs! That's $2 a song! That's double the price of a song on iTunes.

Berserk's anime was just an advertisement for Manga so I can't say that it's awesome, it's just good.Manga on the other hand, pretty f*king awesome.
