I use Lubuntu on my netbook (dual booted with Windows) and one other system, because they are too old and slow to run Windows effectively. I don't really know if I would use Steam for Linux, it all depends on how it would be implemented. If I'd like it though, I'd probably use it to play some not-resource-hungry indie games, and consider using Linux more often.

I have used Ubuntu, Kubuntu and Lubuntu.
I most likely will not use Steam Linux since I have windows to run my games.

I will start using Linux constantly as soon as im able to run Adobe products properly, so far it's only thing that's holding me on windows most of the time.

I have Ubuntu installed on my desktop just to mess around with a little, don't use it often. I've got an old laptop running Xubuntu that I use from time to time. As for using Steam? I'll certainly play around with it a little, but beyond that it depends on how many games are available.

I'm using lubuntu on a home server. It's Ubuntu with LXDE interface and it's way faster (and way uglier) than Ubuntu. But for a server it doesn't really matter.

Ook, think I'm one of the only ones here with experience of a non toy-distribution. ;) I used Slackware for about 10 years exclusively as my main desktop OS until about 2 years ago when I got back into PC gaming more heavily and started dual-booting to Windows 7 to play games that wouldn't run natively or under WINE (which wasn't very many, but still).

A catastrophic failure meant I had to re-install my OS from scratch but I didn't bother re-installing Slackware, just Windows. At work we use CentOS on our webservers and I use cygwin so I can use a proper shell, so I'm not completely out of it.

If Steam on Linux is viable and I can play the games I want to play I would go back.

I use Windows 7 Home Premium x86. It's the best of the best I've been told by IT professionals.

I'm going to assume you're not trolling, and just say that the best OS is the one that's the right tool for the job. For most ordinary consumers, Windows 7 is a good fit.

I used ubuntu, kubuntu, lubuntu (i used to be a translator for those and i had to test it) but i used them for like 3-6 weeks top for each version.

but well, because of games etc i had to return back to windows and being a beta tester since windows longhorn wasnt helping :(

I'm in the category that I've always really wanted to try but between gaming and a few other things it just hasn't happened. I'm really hopeful that with Steam for Linux that maybe we'll see enough of a shift away from Win8 in the core space to make it viable.
