Wallet funds will stay in canadian dollars, but the store will change to $ with an Ip from the US.
Basically I think you just cant buy anything $-priced.
You can still use your wallet on your browser, just visit the steamshop with the cc tag at the end of the url.
http://store.steampowered.com/?cc=CA
This way you can still use your storefront while travelling around.

I've got about 10 bucks in my wallet right now and was wondering what exactly would happen if I went to the states (or another area as I imagine it'll work the same) and logged into steam there.
Does it stay in canadian dollars til I go to spend it?
Does it auto convert into american again instantly or only if I buy something? And if so, if I don't spend anything, when I return to canada will I have the exact amount back in my account or will it potentially be impacted by current exchange rate? I know the rate is always jumping a bit I'm just worried about losing money if steam doesn't calculate it at the exact rate for both sides (vs say the several cents in their favor banks and paypal does to cover costs)
