So I was reading some other guy getting help for his headphones and it made me start looking into getting some as well. But I'm having trouble trying to find what I want so figured I might ask here like the other guy.

Basically I'm hoping to find headphones with the following qualities (Importance is the top, less important the bottom):

  1. Cheapish, preferably around 50 bucks although I could go over 100 if its worth it, willing to pay more if its worth it, but preferably want to pay less
  2. NOT in ear headphones (these are fine But These are NOT fine :)).
  3. Headphones that allow me to still hear whats going on around me
  4. Bluetooth
  5. Easy to obtain

<>Also willing to forgo some of these qualities depending on how good the headphone is.<>

Also I would prefer it if they're not that big or bulky and sound quality isn't too much of a problem as long as I can hear my music without other people hearing it. I'm not really too fussed about things like bass, and high quality and etc etc as long as it works alright.

Also Giveaway:
Giveaway
CV is at $0.01 and the game is UFO Extraterrestrials Gold

Also I've got like 1 dead Island Epidemic beta gift so if you don't have it and want it put like a + sign somewhere on your comment and I'll probably choose a random person and gift it.

50 Bucks in a bluetooth headphone will buy you utter crap in terms of build and sound quality. Either spend more, or even better: ditch the bluetooth. First you limit the audio-quality because of the bluetooth-protocol itself, second good bluetooth-headphones cost around 2 - 3 times as much as cable-bound headphones with the same sound quality.

Fair enough, in terms of the list though the things lower down are the things I'm more willing to give up on, for example I'll be happier to give up on easier to obtain or bluetooth, but not so much for being in ear or hearing whats around me. True with the price though, I think I'll change it to a range but to be honest I'm used to listening to music from crummy speakers, and the worse of the worse headphones, so audio quality isn't something I'm HUGELY obsessed with but I definitely see your point and I guess if I'm going to buy headphones I'm more willing to get ones that work well.

Well, you say you're used to bad audio-quality, but if you were used to be beaten and malnourished by your parents/girlfriend, you wouldn't put up with that, right?

There's always something better and even if it doesn't have to always be better, you might actually find yourself enjoying good audio quality once you've experienced it (and I'm not talking clubs/concerts now, those mostly sound quite gruesome..)

That said, there's always some reccomendations in every price range, even 20 bucks (depending on your region) can buy you a pretty decent headphone. Along with others, I have 5 headphones lying around here that are pretty decent in sound quality (all in their own purpose) and are in that price range of around 50 or less. Just not bluetooth.

Making a reccomendation, are they for mobile use? And where are you from, so I can check "easy accessability"

That sort of made me laugh lol, I do see your point though, but yeah, I was hoping for say mobile use on the train and while walking around type of thing. I'm an Aussie, so accessability is a bit odd, but I can also get things from eBay and stuff like that.

Man serisouly, getting good headphones in Australia is rough - none of the headphones on top of my reccomendation list is even listed on aussie-amazon (can you order from normal .com though? I'm german, so I wouldn't know if .com ships electronics to AUS - at least they don't if you're German...)

Two very good ones for mobile use are the Panasonic HTF-600 (Awesome sound, but has some durability issues - lasts about a year, if you're not uber-careful) and the Monoprice here. The Mono is dead cheap (in terms of price) and sports a detachable cable, which is always nice. In terms of durability, I've had mine for 1 1/2 years now and it's still alright. Then again, I've used it for 50 hours or so since and wearing headphones outside will always strain them more than indoor use.

A little more expensive, but also quite a few tads better ins terms of durability and sound (doesn't mean you should bash them around) would be the Audio Technica ATH-M50 (suffix s for straight cable, suffix x for detachable cable) which is available for $90 sometimes and delivers (just as the other two mentioned) a very good price/performance ratio in that spot. I didn't bother to look accessability further up in the price range, because I consider people who say "$50" to be reluctant to spend 150+ on a headphone at first, but maybe you wanna look into it - at that price point, the ear-meltingly sweet sounding Focal Spirit One is on the top of my list for mobile use, closed back headphones

Oh, I've found something available in AUS that sounds pretty awesome in it's price range:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Takstar-Headphones-Monitor-PRO-80-PRO80-Brand-New-in-Box-/201068627106?pt=AU_headphone&hash=item2ed09fc4a2

Says shipping costs are $70, but I reckon that's to Germany and hope that domestic shipping will be cheaper. Just to round up the list.
Edit:
Whoops, coiled cable though =/

Sorry, I assumed the cable would be straight since I've only held to Qpad QH-90 (Gaming-Headset that uses the Pro80 as a OEM) in my hands so far.

Ahhh that can get annoying. In my case its wrist watches. I have a bloody shelf in my closet dedicated to all my wristwatches. For some reason, almost everybody in my family barring a few cousins & my parents always end up gifting me Wrist watches on every goddamn occasion since my early teens ( and I have a bloody huge extended family, apparently my great-grandparents went at it like rabbits ).

Currently my collection is at 63 time pieces .

Interesting, the price is really good, my bro has a set, and he swears by them, tells me they're his favourite headset. I was hoping to find something that will be easier to wear in public for say listening to music off my phone.
But if nothing of that type comes up, I reckon I'm quite interested in these.

Well for public use of any sort of headphones/earphones I use: logitech ultimate ears 100 - noise-isolating earphones - Which I got for $10-20AUD and they are absolutely amazing in both audio quality and feel quality(like when you put the earphones in your ears, you sometimes tend to get a pain or irritation feeling in your ear.. but when it comes to these, they feel amazing an dont irritate or hurt your ears or anything !)

Link to Amazon(I assumed your american so yeah): Here

Since everyone tends to reccomend everything he has, I'll just ask you to get my point across: How many headphones of the hundreds in that price range have you actually heard and evaluated yourself?
Because seriously, the turd beach is far, faaar away from being even worth a glance.

I don't mean to insult you and I believe they sound good to you, but audio is an extremely subjective matter. Point in case: You have a $5 (in terms of sound) headphone that cost $100 (in terms of real asking price) and it's the best you've ever heard - you're happy with the purchase, because you don't know, how other $100 headphones sound. Now you go and buy a $20 headphone for $150 and your mind is blown. You go and reccomend that to anyone, without having heard any better. And along comes the $30 headphone, that sounds much better than your $150 headphone - would you still recommend your headphone?

1) I've had countless headsets over the past few years and so far this(P11's) and the P22's are pretty good.. But hey.. thats just my opinion, as well as a heap of other people...

2) I never recommended a headset that costs $100-150 .... I recommended a Headset thats selling for $60-70 and then I recommended earphones that are selling for $5-20.

3) I also never said they sound good.. I said they sound amazing... plus dont call em "Turd beach" ... only because you probably never had them or liked them, doesnt mean you have to diss them just because you dont like them, your opinion on gaming headsets is absolutely pathetic.. if you are a gamer, you'd understand the quality of headsets easily and more better ... but clearly your not a gamer an you have terrible taste

Ignoring my whole argument and insulting me on a basis you can't sustain, since you neither know what audio-equipment I use nor on what basis I abstain from reccomending turtle beach. You go mate!

Mate, your just being pathetic. When one has their opinion, it matters not if their opinion is good or bad. Honestly.. Just stop, you've made your point that you just speak nothing but shit... honestly

I doesn't matter if their opinion is good or bad? Well aside from distincting "good" and "bad" being a subjective matter and being able to fill countless pages with a discussion around that - the guy here is looking for a decent headphone and a way to spend his money in the best way possible. The turtle beach is not and I was nicely asking how come you say that.

That being said, if you ask somebody for advice on whatever you wanna spend your money on, buy what he reccomends and later find out you just bought the by far inferior product in terms of performance or price, you would be pissed. That's what I'm trying to prevent here.

No, Thallassa is right. Headsets have terrible audio quality compared to headphones in the same price range and which is why people whom have experiences with other headphones don't recommend them, and I do mean headphones and not headsets. It's not really up to debate, it's a fact and not and opinion.

Being a "gamer" doesn't magically make the sound quality better.

To be honest "Turd Beach" is semi appropriate for what they make. The only redeeming quality for the price is a decent soundstage but that's it. "Gaming" headsets are 90% marketing. You'll get much better sound quality going with a well-reviewed and cheaper headphone.

I've used a Sennheiser HD 457 for many many years. I like them primarily for three reasons:

++ You can hear everything that's going on around you (unless you turn up the volume, then they drown everything else out quite well).
++ No one else can hear what's coming out of them (again, unless you crank them up quite loud).
++ They have decent sound quality (not spectacular -- if you're an audiophile you'll find them lacking, but I find them quite good)

They also have a long cord, with a thing to wrap the excess cord around so your desk isn't messy.

Unfortunately they were discontinued by Sennheiser years ago, but you can still find them on the internet for quite cheap. eBay is probably easiest. Also, they aren't bluetooth, but if you're just using them at your computer, or close to your computer, the really long cord will be a good replacement for bluetooth.

"Headphones that allow me to still hear whats going on around me"
" not that big or bulky"
"[..]hear my music without other people hearing it"

If you want earphones like the ones you listed above, that's not possible (at least from my knowledge). The "I want to hear what's happening outside of me, but don't want to people to hear what I'm listening" thing isn't really possible unless you put your volume on low.

I'd recommend the Superlux 668b, but you might consider that bulky. The Grado sr60i isn't in your price range, and you might consider that bulky too.

How do you feel about clip-on headphones?

Search for "Rapoo H6020" on ebay, they may fit your requirements. Includes bluetooth, not bulky and under $50. There are ebay sellers from Australia too (if I'm not mistaken the OP is in Australia).

Just a small question. When you say "50 bucks" , what currency are you exactly using ? Because I've seen people use that term to describe any currency in slang speech.

Because I'm not very clear on your budget , is it USD 50 ( which would be around GBP 30 ) ?

50$ will not buy you any even decend headset. and any inside-ear headphone will always be inferior. You generally have 2 ways, but neither up to what you want ;p Buy very mediocre headset (while saying headset i mean HEAD-SET - it will stuck at top of your head with quality speakers set 2cm from your ear) or getting quite good headset (see above) with a cable which will give you all you may want until you're an ultra audiophile.

TL;DR: Any inside-ear blutooth set will suck balls, change your criteria.
