I pick Dishonored. New franchise with huge potential.
Borderlands 2 is merely a re-invention of the original. The replay value reminds me why I originally quit playing the original.
Dishonored is original and unique, it is not just another Bethesda or Unreal engine game, it is as good as and stands out as much as other unique hits like the BioShock series.

I picked Borderlands 2 over Dishonored for one reason.
Dishonored doesn't NEED to be a franchise. I see it in the same way as BioShock.
It doesn't matter how good the sequels are, the original was good enough to stand on its own.
I'm not saying that future Dishonored titles won't be good, I am just saying we don't need to turn everything into a franchise.
EDIT: Borderlands could have been by itself, but buggered if the ending wasn't disappointing.

I don't have Dishonored, but I have Borderlands 2. I'll take it in good faith that they're both real good games (only heard of the former, been enjoying the latter so far)

I have both and id probably have to go with dishonored. Borderlands2 is a great game, but it's basically the same as the original
Dishonored is what DeusEx:HR SHOULD have been, but set in a steampunk settings. As far as I'm concered that is GOTY material

Same here. Too bad it seems Borderlands 2 is going to win, and it's such an unbalanced vote. There are more people that enjoy mindless co-op fun instead of a well fleshed new IP with engaging story and gameplay. Not to mention it's based solely on who visits that site or might hear about the Poll from someone. So if more Borderlands 2 fans know about it and vote, it doesn't mean Dishonored wouldn't normally win.

Wow Dishonored did not stand a chance against Borderlands 2. I still think Dishonored should win a GOTY award at least once so that most of us can be happy of such a wonderful game.

Most likely. The only aspect in which I can see borderlands 1.1 coming on top of dishonored is the fact that it has co-op, in exchange for that the single player experience is shit though.

The co-op, yes one aspect, and the free golden keys that gearbox 'buys votes with' via Twitter and Facebook, really gathered their troops. I also think that people who voted most likely want the game rather than own the game, since it is so hyped.

As much as I like Borderlands 2, I like Dishonored more. The originality in the Dishonored universe is incredible. In my opinion, originality is the most important aspect of a video game.
If I had two votes the second would go to Dishonored as well.

I actually didn't like dishonored that much, but it deserves a GOTY award more than Borderlands 2 does, it's just a remake of the first with new characters.
