Build a Greenlight 10

2 games / $1 minimum. First two games cost $0.50 each. Each additional game gets a tiny discount, so the full bundle costs $3.32 total.

8 main games to pick from

6 Bonuses (All unlocked)

Background

During the 24-hour countdown before the bundle went live, you could pay $1.5 or more to get the full bundle on release. Apparently, 3334 copies were preserved before the games were revealed.

..and the gaming industry, not content with the abomination called "preordering", gave birth to the next step in the evolutionary ladder: "Preserving", where you pay up front without even knowing what you are buying.

I'm mostly kidding though. $1.5 is nothing compared to a full-price preorder (unless they cram the bundle full of GL skidmarks).

Lol, I'll take a chance this once to preserve. If it's total crap then I'll not preserve again. I haven't been too disappointed with groupies though.

My reasoning exactly.

Yep.

That's pretty much the same thought I had. In the best case this gamble nets me some enjoyable games, in the worst case I have wasted money I could have spent on a burger or some soda.

If it was a bundle with 8 Steam games I'd risk and give it a shot. In this case I'll wait until they reveal the titles.

It's an upside-down bizarro universe where even the poorest, hatless Irishman might call 8 Steam games for $1.50 a "risk".

For some people buying a "Bad Rats Franchise Pass - contains Bad Rats 2-9" for $1.50 is a real risk!

None of them are on Steam (yet).

But the person I was responding to said that even if they WERE on Steam, he'd "risk and give it a shot".

And, even if I am going to address Greenlight games, it still seems very odd to call eight of them for $1.50 a "risk". Either bad iOS ports would still give me more than $1.50 worth of entertainment.

Technically it's always a risk, whatever the amount of money it is.

I want to say "1.5$ for this probably 8 shittiest Greenlight games like Star Traders 4X Empires or worse is not worth", but....is just 1.50$ and....yeah....very cheap....so idk if I should get it...just to see if I will regret it or not.

I hope this experiment fails because pre-ordering mystery bundles is a horrible idea.

mystery and Greenlight, I decided to buy it too with bitcoins, at least we will get Steam keys after they greenlit, if they don't fool us.
Once I bought a single game for 1$ on indiegamestand and regretted it, all the games they sold always went for same 1$ price but to another bundle including more games. Let's see how goes this Groupees experiment.

well IndieGameStand isn't really a bundle, and you can say that it is very dev oriented. Also, compared to GMG, Gamersgate, GOG, Desura, and Steam, IndieGameStand is still a bargain.

This. And even if sometimes I ended up having doubles because of other bundles, I never regretted what I bought on IndieGameStand.

And as a serious bonus, they often have DRM-free AND Steam keys for that $1 :D

Bonuses can also be nice - usually just the soundtrack, but Wierld Worlds 3 included the first two games if you BTA.

It's not like you can't just wait and see. You simply will pay the normal bundle price instead of this nice discount.

Pre-order 8 Greenlight games without knowing what I'm getting? Are you kidding me? That is absolutely a new low. Hell, I don't want to buy Greenlight bundles when I can see the games, considering maybe half will actually end up on Steam and maybe one of those will turn out good.

Preordering gets you the bonuses, but they've mentioned that the bonus will be a mix of Desura and DRM-free titles only (no Steam).

okay so the bonuses are not on steam greenlight, right?

Most likely yes.

They only said Desura and DRM-free, if it were a greenlight game I'm sure they would've mentioned it.

They are. Every game in these are Greenlight, the bundle is built around that.

I never buy Greenlight Build A Bundles because I'm spoilt by $1.00 bundles, but always regret it later once the games make it to Steam.

They realized this and suckered me in with the $1.50 prepurchase.

...And then they decide that everyone didn't pay enough for steam keys after it gets greenlit and don't provide them. GG

There have been at least three games from Groupees Greenlight bundles which keys didn't come for, because the devs sucked arse.

Groupees would follow through. It's the devs/pubs that you have to worry about. They all want your support until they're on Steam and then they're quick to cast you to the curb.

Its a Greenlight bundle. There are no Steam games in there at this time, its all Greenlight stuff.

i know that, what I wanted if the base games are guaranteed to give steam keys ONCE they pass gl (and theres still no news about the bonuses in that regard)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Asking for guarantees is a bit pointless. Plenty of these games never get through, and some pull bullshit and then refuse on a technicality, by going with a scummy publisher instead.

IndieRoyale used to do a pre-order type thing. I remember I did that for the one that had Hard Reset. Totally worth it, and the best thing was beating the price increase they always have.

"preordered" it for the lulz, even if only 2-3 are good it will still have been worth it i guess, plus it's groupees so i know i'l get the keys.

I preordered. Even though I realised not many games from previous Greenlight bundles got Steam keys.....

Well, I want the game on the picture, and considering Groupees regular prices, there only has to be 1-2 more games that look interesting for the pre-order to be worth it. So here's to gambling!
