I do love rpgs, but I not a fan of the star wars universe... I have read some reviews about the game, and they said that is like dragon age origins, it trully is?

Do you recomend it?

Ho many hours of fun it give you?

Thanks for your time.

KotOR is one of those games that has stuck with me. DA:O on the other hand I found tedious and I gave up after 10 hours or so.

If you can get past the no doubt dated graphics, KotOR's story will blow you away.

KOTOR is and DA:O are a little similar, but tbh I dont think you would enjoy KOTOR just because you like DA:O. If you dont like Star Wars, I cant see you getting invested in the plot all that much

I don´t hate star wars, is just... I don´t care too much about it... You need to know about the lore of the original triology to enjoy it?

Thx for your answer!

Knowing anything about the original trilogy (other than 'Jedi use the Force and have lightsabers') isn't really needed. Pretty much everything you need to know about the universe is explained.

There's lots of little in-jokes and references for people who have watched everything and are addicted to the universe, though.

KotOR takes place like 4000 years before the events of the original trilogy, so no not really. Just picked it up myself for 1 key after being totally blown away with DA:O

I'm not really into star wars at all. heck, I even hate rpgs in general. but Kotor 1 was by far the best one that one that i've ever tried.

It even got a place on my "best games of all time" list!

I put around 14 hours in KOTOR, pretty fun game. I found it a bit hard at some points and had to lower the difficulty.

I never watched any of the star wars movie, started the game with zero knowledge of the world lore. First few hours is boring, but it became better further on. Also, the plot twist will blow your mind.

One of my favorite games ever.

I am currently re-playing kotor 2, with the restored content mods.

The only thing in common with DAO is that both are rpg and they both use an altered version of the D&D system. I really enjoyed the story of kotor and i think it is a game that any rpg fan would enjoy

Even if you are not into Star Wars, as long as you don't hate Star Wars universe you will be fine.

It was made by Bioware, what more do you want to know?

The story takes you on multiple planets so it's always interesting to explore and advance the story.

too bad old bioware is gone, kotor is decent, slightly buggy, you dont need to know star wars lore to enjoy it

It's Neverwinter Nights on Star Wars' cloth. I loved it, played both Kotor 1 and Kotor 2 when they were released, and finished both. I don't like Star Wars movies and such, but I do love its games - nothing is more stylish than a Dual-Bladed Lightsaber stance.

+1

11/10 would play again (or like 10th time :D)

You don't have to know whole universum, I didn't know anything more about it than it has "magican people" with "laser swords". Graphic is old (this game is from 2003) but story is great.

If you want to just run through it figure about 10 hours or less. If you want to actually follow and enjoy the story and make a fun character build then you should probably expect closer to 20 hours.

I am somewhat biased as I LOVE Star Wars, but strip out the story and familiar settings and the actual gameplay is very, very fun. If it was any other storyline and branding I think I'd still play through it ever couple years like I do now.

In that case, it sounds like you really do enjoy RPGs for their gameplay. Would definitely recommend then. It's been on sale for $2.50 a number of times. Slap it into your wishlist and Steam will email you when it's on sale.

Played it more times than I remember, Defiantly worth it - also the second one while half un-finished, is also superfantastic - haven't tried the cut content restored mod but it probably makes it a much fuller experience.

Restoration content mod adds lot of cut moments. Even one whole planet with mission for HK-47.

Or it's better to say that is fix lots of bugs which normally brokes game and that don't give access for this stuff.

KotOR isn't like DA:O, DA:O is like KotoR, but a little bit worse. And are you kidding me? is it worth? Any gamer that respect himself must play KotoR at least once in a lifetime!

It's considered one of the classics in the RPG genre, I think any RPG lover should play it. It's up there with other Bioware classics such as Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights. If I had to compare it to more recent Bioware titles it's definitely more DA:O than Mass Effect, the combat is tactical and turn-based.

You lost me at "not a fan of the Star Wars universe", That's like saying you don;t like chocolate or ice cream. That said, apart from the universe, the games have nothing in common with the Star Wars movies.

Well is a very good game too me, a little bit buggy but the rest of the game is awesome. You dont need to like or know any of star wars lore or whatever too enjoy this game. i played more than 60 hours and almost every one of that hours was purely joy ^^.
I truly recomend you this game.

Worth it! both games, 1 and 2.

It has a couple of classes that you can play each depending of your preference. I spent like 40 hours to beat the game one more time with one class... But I already knew all the game. This game really worth the price.
