Having thoughts of "luck" and "karma" generates positivism and inner peace which can influence on things, yes, even though they're all made up terms made up for fools so they could comprehend how life works and consequently control it. That's indirectly how some religions work, which is providing a fake sense of accomplishment by having yourself subdued in life.

I don't really believe in luck, for I don't carry around gimmicky items such as a horse shoe on my bag and a rabbit foot on a necklace. "Bad luck" is just an expression, because messing with things you've been taught to be sacred is more a sign of hypocrisy than anything, which can cause angst and affect you when you least expect it.
