Propably you all heard about Sony being really hard hacked

discussion on reddit

Most workers got holidays now, eg. apparently in poland 3 weeks off!
http://www.geek.com/news/sony-just-got-hacked-doxxed-and-shut-down-1610274/

Today was deadline for sony to fulfill hackers requests (don't know what) and it looks like sony didn't agree to them so some of information leaked to torrents now, eg. passwords, Angelina Jolie password scan (sic!)

Thanks god i don't have any account from Sony. Hope GabenGod won't mess up with them or we can say byebye to our rented games

ps. yes it's better to change text not to make confusion Sony Pictures not Sony with HQ in Japan (that one is more important for gamers)

It was more than just Sony that was hacked in that attack, just so you know.

Inside are usernames and passwords for 2,131 PSN users; 1,473 Windows Live users; and 2,000 2K Games users.
So yeah, Microsoft and 2K got hacked as well. That was what they leaked then, but they had a lot more.

And another bit of text.
We have 800,000 from 2K and 500,000 credit card data. In all of our raids we have a total of around 7 million usernames and passwords," he said. "We have around 2 million Comcast accounts, 620,000 Twitter accounts, 1.2 million credentials belonging to the CIA domain, 200,000 Windows Live accounts, 3 million Facebook, 1.7 million EA origins accounts, etc.

I love that 1.2 million credentials belonging to the CIA domain

However I think you're talking about other attack made by DerpTrolling and Sony - Playstation Network

Now it's hacked Sony Pictures by the #GOP. Those are different companies.

Interesting fact: it's hacke cos of some dirty things Sony made but nobody knows what is it. #GOP is blackmailing them to stop.

Ah, I thought it was related to the recent hacking for gaming services.

Oh well, the info is useful for those with them. I don't know if a topic about it was made here.

Just so you know, it was Sony Movies, not Sony Games (yeah, I know they are officially called different, but this way people will get difference easier) that was hacked this time.

Gamers are safe.

This time.

I thought it's PSN again, but anyway it's the same company so well deserved.

I don't think anybody deserves to be hacked so i disagree.

So, PSN gets hacked a couple years back, and instead of improving security for their users (and, by extension, one would think for themselves too), they just don't give a damn?

OK, well deserved then.

PSN =/= Sony Pictures.

PSN security is probably increased since the hack, while Sony Pictures security wasn't since it didn't got hacked before.

You know, getting that burn once wasn't enough so Sony Pictures decided PSN was at fault and they didn't have to step up their security? Global organization with a huge lack of compliance management.

Sony Pictures isn't Sony Games, you know.

Yeah, but it's still Sony, and as that, they (should) have corporate compliance which incorporates information security systems. Also, if PSN got banged really hard, would they not step up their security, or are they just super dumb?

You don't get it do you?

PSN was hacked which had a different security system the Sony Pictures. Why would you "step up" security for something that hasn't been hacked before? Thats like trying to fix something thats not broken...

Can I have your credit card information? You don't seem to care about active security measures and would only like to be kindly informed once they have been compromised.

Also, you really don't like reading, do you? Whether it's a different branch, arm or division, a company the scale of Sony has to have compliance management to have a consistent representation. Such a compliance system includes global information security management systems. As such, the first hack should have led to improved security throughout all branches and divisions of Sony as a direct reaction and preemptive measure to prevent such breaches from happening in the future. The consequences of this breach show Sony has not reacted, otherwise, documents would not have been leaked. Back then, data that should have never been directly accessible was taken, and now, they have made the same mistake again. Lots of vital data in plain text, within reach of an attack.

Are there any demands, or are those just self-righteous dicks with no interest in helping secure customers' information the hard way?

there are demands to Sony Pictures to stop doing dirty things. Hackers knows sth they did and want them to stop doing it more. It's not yet in public what it is, they blackmail them to publicity it
