Easily both. Thousands of games on multiple systems, but still beat between 60 - 80 a year.

Hah I can relate to that. I make promise after promise to finish {xyz game} before playing anything new and the.. ohh look a bunny! By the time I come back to the game in question (and this is especially true for RPGs) I feel the urge to start over. Rinse and repeat...

I like a phrase I found on some Russian group long time ago:
«Когда мы выйдем на пенсию, то соберемся и поиграем во все, что успели накупить в стиме за прошедшие годы»
Translated it says something like:
"When we retire(go on pension), we will gather and play all, we managed to buy on Steam in the past years"

Wow! I can't seem to finish a game unless it's so short I reach the end without even knowing it's coming. :) For example I love RPGs but keep being distracted by something shiny... Later I go back but can't remember what I'm doing or how to play. :) Then either I start over and give up, or just eliminate the middleman and give up directly. :)
Think the last one I finished was Gone Home - probably didn't see everything but I didn't feel like playing again. :) Great game to play once, though. :)

gamer AND collector. Also, I dont have internet to download anything right now. Also, I own about 100 games on steam and 3 or 4 on gog.com (cant buy there since I have no credit card and they have no gog wallet. Had to ask some friends to get me cossacks and tropico 1,2. Still cant get neverwinter nights diamond.

Don't think it would be fair to call myself a game "collector" since I think that implies using judgement, i.e. buying this game, but not that one. If you're a coin collector, you don't put every random coin you stumble upon into your collection. :)
So, unfortunately I think I'm just a game accumulator. :) Aha, a new bundle! Do I already own all of it? If yes, save my money. If no, buy it. :)

Seems we're all guilty of this. Once I went bundle crazy I told myself I was saving them for a long vacation, or retirement, or something like that. But it's a big lie - doubt I'll ever sit down and really play more than 5% of these things... :)

Same here. I tell myself that every single time I buy a game. One day I'll play this. One day. Haha. At least we get the joy of watching our Steam account grow. Into something magnificent. Something glorious. Also beats collecting buttons or something :D

And no, haven't seen it. If the above trailer was what you were referencing. I fould out yesterday too after I posted that, that my wife used to collect buttons. I laughed so hard.

After? So she was with you or you just commented her your though. I can see the scene, unpayable.
Then she also would enjoy the film, I think it's that one (as if another film wold have a similar name and story). But after reading a bit on the imdbsite seems there is no dvd version, so probably will be a difficult task to get it. I watched it when I was a kid on a filmotheque -dunno how to write that in english- probably on the release year 1994 already 20 years ago...

No DVD version! :O
I actually still have a VHS player believe it or not. I'll have to look into that one! :D
And yeah I found out after. She's stopped collecting them now, but she scorned me for making fun of button collectors. She said it cost less than collecting Steam Games :(
I was like, yeah, but you don't get hours upon hours of pure enjoyment either lol

However i used to have a great collection of console games before i was robbed. (multiple times)

That was a few years ago still have them i think my outbreak was stolen (its too sad to look into the room)
actually its sad to know that it used to look like this.. and 80% of it all got stolen by family members.. drugs is bad hey.
it was like this
http://www.capcom-unity.com/general_off_topic/go/thread/view/7291/4887007/your-game-collection?post_id=123126457
and grew much much larger
so yeah PC is it for me digital downloads i used to be nah i want to hold it. but honestly the resell value is utter crap and if its stolen its a mission to buy your collectors edition etc.
but yes some ppl just buy games for the amount of it. i play mine
sure i havent played all of mine but im enjoying what im playing with atm maybe too much to get the next game.
hell check my playfire profile. https://www.playfire.com/oujisan

Gamer. Although I've been busy lately, I only have about 6 games or so I haven't played yet, mainly due to unplayable bugs.

I'm a gamer, but I have a LOT of unplayed games, because I don't have a really good computer ;)

I'm a gamer, but currently a collector due to a limited bandwidth.
TL;DR, I'm collecting to play later.

"TL;DR, I'm collecting to play later."
that's the mentality i'm stuck with when it comes to buying bundles...every time i see a bundle, i always think of that, and then buy the bundle
the backlog's so bad that there are even games from humble indie bundle 9 that i haven't played yet! :/

Both, I only started buying games on Steam exactly one year ago (before that I spend 1500EUR on League of Legends skins and stuff), before last year I played Counter-Strike from 1999 until now so that's why I never bought games on Steam, also because I played MMORPG's alot. In one year I collected 277 games on Steam. I try to play many of them.

449 owned, 49% not played, so both I guess? Eventually I will get around to them all :P

I also discovered that become a collector.
Well maybe I always been one, during a lot of years downloaded most of the games I wanted to play. Played half and deleted the rest. After that reduced both amounts and enjoyed more reading industry news. Now I don't download, not read about the industry (much less than before), but I'm getting all the games I have a bit of interest on them, although I fail on the part of playing them. It's curious, but I have the feel is much easier now to get them for a reasonable price, and considering the time to pirate a game (depends on the popularity, the weight and the effort the producer dedicates to pursue the links) which is cost, and not precisely cheap, it's also a more intelligent option.
Sorry for being a bit offtopic, but that's part of the process that made me arrive here. Not only I changed a bit, the market changed completely, much more on my country.

A bit of both.
I can never pass up a deal on something that tickles my interest.
Unfortunately I prefer to finish a game before moving on to its sequel [even if I already have it], some games I end up with buyers (or winners, lol) remorse because the game actually sucks (or at least I find it sucky), too many other games on my plate, life interruptions, et cetera.
Games owned 289
Games not played 180 (62%)
That is just Steam and does not include Blizzard, Desura, On Live, GOG/DRM free, Origin, Uplay, PSP, or Wii.

Depends on how you look at it. I've got a bunch of bundle games I'll probably never play--and really don't want to. They're there because there was a game in the bundle I thought looked interesting.
I've also got a huge backlog. I'm just not able to keep up with the sales. I like to play through games in order so I'm sitting on a bunch of sequels right now.

Gamer, just with a bit of a backlog. Some are waiting until I can get a good Xbox controller, which has to wait til I get a job. Got an interview either this week or next I think, so here's hoping.
Games owned: 368

Probably both. I'm more of a collector though, I have hundreds of consoles games (physical copies) and I haven't played most of them.

Wait, you can play these games?!?
Games owned 1146
Games not played 714 (62%)
Collecting has been a new addiction of mine. Only been doing it for about 6 months now. Since I have, I am playing more games than I use to. I would say I probably spend more time collecting and trading than I do actual playing though.
Oddly enough, I do spend quite a bit less on alcohol each month now. SWIM spends less each month on more controversial substances as well.

So, I've enjoyed playing games since my early days of childhood. At 2 years old I was put at a computer to smash keys on the keyboard, and transitioned into coordination and games. Needless to say, I've always been one to enjoy gaming. Lately, I've been asking myself if I'm really a gamer in the sense, or if I'm more of a game collector. While I play a game here and there, I just looked at my Steam and GOG libraries as it's easy to see how many titles you have and how many have been played. I'm a bit shocked at the results...
This is just my digital libraries of Steam and GOG. I have hundreds more PSN titles, PS1/2/3, Xbox, GameCube, etc. games I've never played either.
So, are you a gamer or a game collector? (Yes, it is possible to be both.)
