I have always preferred Hack n Slash RPG games over RPG's like Skyrim and such.
I've played quite a bit of them, and wanting to know if there's anymore.

The HnS RPG's I've played:

Torchlight 1 & 2
Diablo 2 & 3
Path of Exile
Van Helsing Adventure 1 & 2
Titan Quest
Grim Dawn
Sacred 1, 2 & 3 (3 was just terrible)

EDIT: It has to be a game, where you can collect items, like weapons, armor.

Gauntlet - Warrior and Valkyrie have melee combat, Wizard and Elf are ranged.
Lord of the Rings: War in the North - Go trading for this, the NZ price is stupidly expensive.

You can't get items in Gauntlet right?

You can purchase cosmetic gear as well as Relics (special skills) in game. Powering up your characters can be done by achieving certain requirements first. The RPG elements are limited otherwise.

And yes, Gauntlet counts under your requirements, including the edit. You just get it as gold to spend on the gear.

And Skyrim isn't a Hack and Slash RPG?

Lords of the Fallen,
Shadow of Mordor,
Fight the Dragon,

Just look here: http://store.steampowered.com/tag/en/Hack%20and%20Slash/#p=0&tab=NewReleases

Hack and slash RPGs are heavy in action, low in just about everything else. Skyrim is much slower paced.
Double space the end of a line for line breaks like in this post.

Oh okay thanks. But I have to say, Skyrim is based quite a bit around combat, unlike in some games, where dialogue options can change a story ending. The RPG most affected by how your character interacts with the world, in my humble opinion, is Heavy Rain.
How do you make a link, by the way? I'm quite new to posting.

And in Skyrim, you aren't constantly hammering the button and then moving to the next mob to repeat.

Ah okay. I guess, but in terms of rpginess, its not that much either.

If you don't mind older games, check Dungeon Siege I and II.

That looks awesome! You'd be a bit OP, but they probably measured what you could and couldn't "hack".

Have you tried Diablo 1? Also bit different games like Depths of Peril, Konung series, but those take little getting used to. Theres Numen:Contest of Heroes too

Nope, and don't really want to. I couldn't even play much of Diablo 2.

I've always enjoyed hack n slashes and just finished Van Helsing 2 myself and decided to look up more. I couldn't find any interesting enough on Steam, however, Lost Ark Online is coming out sometime next year and looks very promising, almost what D3 should have been. Gameplay starts at 2 min

I think you'd be well served by calling them dungeon crawlers. That's usually the term for those types of games.

As for suggestions not on your list already, Dungeon Siege III was a decent dungeon crawler. More fun with friends, of course.

Fate always seemed like fun, and was clearly good enough to spawn a couple sequels.

And there's the Deathspank games. The focus is more on the humor than the pure combat, but at least the first game was a lot of fun.

I'd probably also include the Ys series in your search, since the dungeon crawler genre doesn't have all that many games.

RAW - Realms of Ancient War (this game is pretty short, but i still enjoyed it)

Iesabel (can't say something 'bout this, haven't play yet)

And some old stuff like Baldur's Gate and Divine Divinity (really good game).

Baldur's Gate is not hack and slash.

Maybe Darkstone? I've played a lot of this when I was still a child and I'm looking forward to get into the game again. You know, old games are good games ;)

Arcanum was somehow enjoyable when I was playing it from what I rememeber. You might want to check it out as well.

As you were asking about Ryse in another topic you might be interested in the Darksiders Franchise as well as Kingdoms of Amalur. Three excellent hack'n'slash rpg titles, just not top down view but third person.

These are what I really recommend:

  • Dungeon Siege - Dungeon Siege II is the one most worth playing, especially with a friend.
  • Divine Divinity - This is a great RPG. One of the best, for sure. It's not like Diablo, though.
  • Inquisitor - Like above, it's not a mindless run around and kill everything game, but it's awesome if you want something challenging with a story to go along with it.

I haven't played it yet, but Nox is something you may like.

Here's a list of games on Steam with the Hack and slash tag.
