You'd be fucked then, half the ukrainians (urban ones) don't speak ukrainian. They only hear it on national television or from old people. The majority of the country speaks russian. It's one of the official country languages as well.

According to CIA factbook, only 4.83% of world population has some variant of English as a native language, which puts English in the third place, after Mandarin and Spanish. Maybe we should all speak Latin or Esperanto? Don't be a hater, if there's several people playing and you join in, do as natives do, do not force your customs on them. Try to have some fun for a change... and learn some curse words in their language.

That's a pretty hotly contested topic, and the CIA factbook is referring to native speakers.
When people say English is the most widely spoken language, it's because it's spoken in the largest number of countries, and it's spoken quite frequently as a second language. If you don't know the native language of a country, whether you're in Africa, Europe, Asia, or wherever else, there's a good chance English is spoken there as well.
Edit: I feel like I should add that Mandarin is only in first place thanks to the sheer number of people in China alone. It's spoken hardly anywhere else, except for some business heavy areas that specialize in dealing with the Chinese.

yesterday I was told I had to learn english BECAUSE the game was set in england (killing floor), yes that was the logic, not because the server was hosted in the USA (I think) which was the most logical option they had, they even were minority on the server at the time

:) Yup in all my gaming experience ,(mostly these statistics come from MOBA game types and mmorpgs :) mostly DotA 1 & other mmorpgs ) brazilians were kinda ...newbs..xD :( like 99,99999 % of them :) the rest of the percentage beeing miracle & holiday 2 in 1 xD tough i hear they are quite good at shooters ,FPSs :D but im startin to really desperatly hate cyrillic fonts spamm on all servers when they could just go on their own servers :(

russians are actually quite good, they play solo but at least they are at least a bit wee good on reaction. You just need to babysit them properly to snowball. Russian playstyle is suicide yolo mode so babysitting them is a must. Meanwhile Brazilians and Chinese are much worse, I see them being worse problem in US servers atm.

Maybe i'm biased by the compendium mode. Barely any muted, Russian-only, or feeding players there. Most players there are actually very friendly and communicative. I even have reports left for this week when a player went afk just to get more card drops.

You try to play 8-9 years DotA 1 & 2-3 HON& LOL etc other mobas too cheap copies like Avalon Heroes & others, & Smite etc...to find at some day the COOL epic uber DOTA 2 gets ruined by cyrillic fonts spamm wich if it was from Ukraineans and others in Europe would be acceptable since almost all of them speak some english too but most russians i'm not sure why they invade & spamm chat/mic on Europe & US etc when they have their own servers..

I know this is going to sound elitist, but you really can't understand unless you play quite a bit of Dota (which I used to before I realized I hated the atmosphere.)
The main problem is that Russian servers are terrible so most Russians play on EU or other servers. This leads to a series of other problems, such as the language barrier. As you probably know, Dota is a very team based game, so being unable to communicate with your team mate is a huge problem. Add that in with the amount of Russians (the same proportion of which are as unskilled as the general population) and confirmation bias, and there's a huge amount of Russian hate in the DotA community.
Since good Russians aren't a problem, and you don't know that bad Russians that speak English are Russian at all, Russians receive a lot more hate than they deserve, but if you take into account the awful DotA community (Mobas as a whole, in fairness) and they don't care about the facts. They see a bad player, he speaks Russian, therefore all Russians ruin all games.

The average DotA player will refuse to believe that their (lack of) skill had anything to do with a loss, so the only thing they do is find reasons why it wasn't their fault. Russians are an easy target because the language barrier provides a convenient excuse.

This is more of a technical problem with the game (people are basically forced to play on servers not in their regions cause of latency). Taking part in this conversation while not playing Dota is for me like taking part in a conversation about a technical problem with a particular model of i.e. dishwasher when not owning a dishwasher, of any kind, whatsoever.
I know a bit about bad atmosphere in Dota/LoL/Moba games and I hate it myself too - I wasn't trying to be rude.

It's the way you asked it, just like it's the way DotA players do everything they do. No one asks "Hey, can I please have mid? I was stuck with support for the last three games, and I'm really not very good at it." It's always "Mid or feed." And if they do ask that way, there's always someone that goes "Nope, I called it first."
The community doesn't believe that there's an 'average' player. Everyone's either a shitty noob or a worthless tryhard (which is the most annoying term in the world). And a loss is never your fault, it's always someone else on your team didn't perform as perfectly as you did.
The community as a whole is just godawful, and while the game is fun, it's nowhere near worth it to deal with the rest of the players, especially how with the community run support program, you can get banned thanks to a couple of unlucky games.

Your first paragraph characterizes novice players who have no idea about roles and teamplay in this game so let's leave it at that.
Second paragraph - unfortunately, that's more of a trait of character of people playing on all levels (and more often than not those who stay on those levels indefinitely - those who can't see and acknowledge their mistakes don't get better). I even started to think that there's a certain personality profile of an average Moba player but that's a talk for another day ;)
Third - I agree, game is fun but community can be awful. When someone does something wrong/you do something wrong but at least there's communication you can still make it work out. Often players are jerks in stating their opinions but they may actually know what they're saying and they just want to win so that's about half-effective communication. So you can only imagine when players don't understand each other because of different languages and different play-styles - communication is reduced to zero and that's why it's such a big problem in a team game. That's why I try to play only premades with my friends nowadays :(

So you're saying that all Russians suck and Valve needs a region lock because of one game? Please learn what confirmation bias is (I even linked the wikipedia article.) and now you're just giving anecdotal evidence to support your cause.
Again, please take into account all the people from your own country that have played just as badly, if not worse, and then take into account all the Russians that have played better than you. I'm also sure that there are hundreds of people you've played with who are Russian but you don't even realize it.
And better yet, please look at one of the hundreds of other threads about this on one of the hundreds of other Dota forums, and you'll see I'm just repeating points that have been proven again and again. You'll also see that not only is there not a problem at all, but even if there was, there are a good dozen or so reasons why Valve can't/won't do anything about region locks.

This is definitely a big problem for all dota2 players (russians too, I bet they would prefer to play with people who understand them) but it won't be solved until russia/brasil gets better data centers so they can play on their servers without lags.
And because of economic reasons I guess Valve isn't so eager to invest a lot in infrastructure in those regions....so yeah, that may take a while...

Don't worry, this has been discussed to death already and Valve will likely never enforce any true region lock. Players have friends in other countries, native servers can lag compared to other servers, and plenty of cases like yours, not to mention cross country tournaments would be all but impossible. Dota players just love to whine and argue, especially about things that lead to a lost game, whether or not they're true.

I gave up on this cause long time ago. I just try to put my feelings on a box locked in the closet when im playing Dota2. Yeah, its a fact that the Russians have take over the EU servers and about 70% ++ of the times im matched with Russians who only speak...well...Russian. You dont have to be a racist or xenophobic or wtv the hell everyone says when someone brings the issue up. Its not big deal if someone fails to play a game like a human but it is a big deal when you dont fuckin understand wtf he says for 30-40+ min while you are in the same team with him in game which needs some basic communication between the players.

No. Currently the button Y has some very nice quick chat commands but the -defend X lane you have to signal or stuff like that :) .
OKAY PHOENIXIO, imagine you have many many years of DotA 1 & 2-3 HOn& LoL and when you start DotA 2 on EUROPE servers you see - JUGGERNAUT using bladefury ON ABSOLUTELY NOTHING +Omnislash ulti on enemies +CREEPS (lovely) and doesnt make phase boots(not even boots) untill you shout at him for 15-17 minutes .Good thing he listened to me then left and we beat the enemies.
OH and Syllabear (Lone Druid) who saiz "me jungle" " i'm pro" then makes headress of rejuvenation and when i ask him " dunno,it was recommended" :) facepalm. I HAD (in DotA 1 ) on SPIRIT BEAR (Syllabear's Bear) - AEGIS ofImmortal,Divine Rapier,Buryza-DoKyannon(Daedalus in DotA 2 and Stargate ship xD ) ,Butterfly,Basher,Treads and on Syllabear i had treads,vladimir,cuirass,monkey king bar ,mjolnir,blade mail. I was left 1v1 vs a Centaur warchief & totally pwnt him.
Anyway the list goes ON AND ON since my first days of DotA 2 - broodmother up(Top lane) dying with 3 webs ffs..(and another russian -MID RAZOR competing with the brood dying non stop )...

So,how can we make VALVE enforce the regional-servers thingy really nicely? By that ,i mean - RUSSIANS - they join on Europe,i heard US & Asia too,all the other servers.
I have 8-9 years of DotA 1 & 2-3 HoN & LoL , some friends were even told to learn russian,i think i was told too a couple of times. TODAY SOME NYX ( Anub'Arak,nerubian assassin) russian random teammate told me " Why you play on Russia server then?" (and we were on Europe server=> facepalm & FML-fuck my life.) . Isnt this outrageous? So ,any suggestions?Like a petition on a site ( or heck,multiple xD ) and what other ideeas you got? No hard feelings russians ,i ain't racist or xenophobic ,but cyrillic fonts spamm on NON-RUSSIA- SERVERS and beeing told to learn russian language and that we " are on russian server" is too much.And i'm sure i'm not the only one thinking this. I mean sure,there ARE multiple native languages in various countries across Europe and Asia et cetera,but we mostly speak english or whatever,and only use native language when we have full teams,we do NOT invade the other servers and spamm languages that aren't primarily used in those servers,what the heck...
