if you all remember a few month ago i presented an idea for a game that has been a dream for me, Well i have given it my all, and would like to share with you an alpha that has bugs and little gameplay but that has a ton more than nothing that was presented with the idea, this will be a text based game upon completion and if you go to the message centre you can try a prototype quest...

You can download the alpha here,
Dropbox.exe Please note this alpha is compiled so you may notice issues.

and if you want help fund it you can here,
clicky

Remember this started as an idea, now we have a working build :D i have given this dream my all, any comment is very helpful and any share of the go fund me page is welcomed.

The UI is looking really nice. Not much more to say right now but good luck with the rest of the game!

Even that comment is very helpful, I was worried that the ui was that as good as i thought it was, and have adapted it since but im working on a budget and with my artist who has became more like a friend than a co-worker, Recently her husband was in an accident as i have not pushed her, which adds to my situation but im only human.

As always comments, And input is always more valuable than money so do drop a comment however small.

Hmm that is the second time i have heard that, Does it give you a specific message, when im testing i complile it all and sometimes that sets off antivirus, as i use several extensions, it doesnt happen when i do not complile ?

I only have Adblock as a extension, but here's what it said.
"Space Corp Tycoon (1).exe is malicious, and Chrome has blocked it."

Hmm i will need to look into that, i suspect it is because the list objects are windows extensions and as such are always on top, i eliminated the other windows extensions with custom code, bit the lists are just more convenient with extensions, to convert to custom code could take 4-5 months and i just dont think that is time well spent at this point.

yea my rpg maker game I uploaded to it seams some browsers don't like to download strange exe files or something (totally a safe reasonable thing for them to try to protect but a pain if you are trying to get people to play stuffs)

well its useful, im going to pass some info to the devs to see if that can help the issue, as most devs report situations like this to protect users,

Originally in clickteam 2.0 during the humble sale, then switched to
2.5 which was a £100 upgrade and then another £190 to developer.... i was going to switch unity but at this point and the game being a text based one and my knowledge of the tools i choose to stay.

I rec kickstarter, tycoons games always make budget and then some.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

yeh i would have done a kickstarter campaign, but my goal is not to sell out and do what the highest bidder says like with most kickstarter,s i will get the bare minimum to run a pc and develop to a high standard and then some, and be in a position that wont dissapoint supporters.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Since when has any kickstarter 'sold out' and took orders from high bidders? Just don't add funding tiers that include anything like that and you're fine.

Besides, if a kickstarter counts as 'selling out', then what is a gofundme? :P

Kickstarter has stuff like "Staff Picks" or "recommended" choices. Maybe OP doesn't want to support a business that upholds a policy of not vetting anything but also recommends certain projects over others.

no Linux?

Comment has been collapsed.

Not at first, its possible with time, but the way in which games are made with click team 2.5 can require different ways of doing things for linux as some extensions are compatible, also it is planned but as with language changes i wanted to wait till it is further along as to not incur costs that are not justified,

Your not being a pain, most of the placeholder art is yet to be worked on or added ( a few month back i showed concept art and now what is in is actual code so any issues are appreciated, thus the original art has errors :D i did not add emphasize on it during early development as i thought that making sure features worked was more important, but the recent 0.7 update did fix 75% of issues with grammar :D

I was COMPLETELY lost right away and if a game doesn't grab me right away, I don't play it (hence 1100+ Steam games).

It looks nice and it looks really in depth and great for those that like the genre. Me and my short attention span however... not so much.

Best of luck!

yeh sadly i agree with you 100%, it didnt become clear until i was further into development, but by then funds were used up, i did set aside a % for storyline and feature introduction that when added will alleviate that feeling.

But at its current stage, you may feel lost if you used to other genres.

I like the concept a lot. But its too early on for me to say much about it sor far. It needs more pop ups to tell you were to go. Like an alert that you have a new mission. Other than that i cant say much about it until later. Also, and i dont mean to be picky or anything, but i think the back button is to small.

You make me so happy, What i mean is, im glad you are picking up on issues i am seeing myself, and they will be fixed once artist gets to it, and i also agree it is too early to say much about, but considering the last time i brought it here it was nothing more than a concept but this is much further along.

It feels a little static. I don't know if you can, but those little details like making things light up or change color when the mouse is over it really make text-based games feel more interactive.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Totally agree with you, Mouse interactivity is yet to be added, as are a lot of other things like little details which classify as polish, if you look at the message screen you will see the first tiny piece of polish which adds static to the body of message.

Far too early to really say much about it.
It feels lifeless right now, but then again games of this type aren't my thing.

Just make sure not to ignore the audio side of things as you progress. When the game is done through a bunch of windows like this, anything to add variety or life to the mix (without becoming an eye/earsore and repetitive) is always a good thing. Good luck with the project~

I played it for a few hours and must say that you have made this game one of my top 10.

Continue developing further in to it and I'm sure you can climb higher on my list! ;)

It feels like it's too early to give a good appreciation of the game. Without the story and goals, you have no idea where to go or what to do. Plus nothing seems to be implemented yet except for the basic look and feel. And a tiny window in the middle of a 1920x1080 screen feels mostly cramped.

I'm sure there's potential in there but it's too early for me to assess.

I do have an idea on implementing a fullscreen mode with a decent scaling system, not as easy as it is in 3d to make as that is just camera angles, in 2d you have to make everything perfect to work with it :)

Wouldn't using hardware scaling provide a good enough solution, for now at least? (Assuming the engine you're using supports that.)
