Everyday at SG i see a lot of people entering FAKE giveaways. Most people are checking giveaway'ers profiles and write into comments that this or another giveaways is fake, but the fact is the people still entering into these giveaways which reach more than 500 people into 1 FAKE giveaway.Do people enter into giveawys wich no checking profile or just think it is bullshit that people create a giveaway and don't have game?Another intresting fact that people either want to lose points so badly or want to get "Enter Giveaways" ratio or either some people are stupid(no offense but it's true). What are your opinions about it?

Sometimes even when checking the giveaway's owner profile most times they have gifts hidden wich induces users in error.

But anyway, many people are either dumb or just don't care.

Even if the description was "this is a fake giveaway" lots would enter

Some people don't actually have time to scroll through each and every comment so they just click on enter to win (and in some cases they say thanks). It's funny though, blaming people who enter fake giveaways, rather than blaming the one(s) who created it.

Usually, the "fake comment" is near the top of the list of comments. For the times they aren't, there's CTRL+F.

I think most likely enter and forget, or dont even bother reading the first comment.

Those people just hit "enter" and never read anything. They are mindless drones who will stop at nothing to win a game, any game.

I don't check. If I like the game, then I will give the person the benefit of the doubt and enter their giveaway. Since I'm going into the giveaway without the game, then what does it matter to me that I leave the giveaway with nothing?

My point is, if they make a fake giveaway, it sorta sucks, but I won't lose sleep over it.

Even if a lot of people say it is fake, a lot of the time, I join anyway.

I'm not losing anything if I don't win...

If a giveaway is fake and reported as such, then subsequently removed, everyone is refunded their entry fee. This happens even after the giveaway ends.

Why received 5% of points isn't removed?

1 decade ago
Permalink

For some reason most of users don't know about it. Maybe the FAQ is missing it? And like tihomir38 said, what about 5% of points being distributed among users upon creation of giveaway? Will they be removed in case of fake giveaway or stay?

There's a bunch of people saying things like "some people don't read the first comment", but it's not even the first comment... there's ones that have IN THE DESCRIPTION "fake giveaway sorry" and TONS of people still enter.

By default, your steam inventory will only show coupons (and not games).
I'm guessing a ton of people forget to set it so that games will show up in their inventory, followed by posts saying "FAKE", or "NO GAME IN HIS INVENTORY", etc.
Honestly, some people are idiots and need to stop jumping on this bandwagon. Like..seriously, if someone's legitimately being generous, then don't be mean.
If it really is a fake giveaway (like, the description might say "cna I have this ggame please"), then report it. If it's a game and it doesn't show up in their inventory, ask some questions before reporting it and screaming "FAKE!"

why should everybody read the fucking comments where 99% of them are just stupid "THX!!!!" anyways?

isnt this the job of the mods on here to pick out/delete the fake giveaways if possible. I do get my points back, and i usually have a lot of points. So I dont really care for checking each and every profile or comments.

People just enter and don't know its fake. Some people do investigate if its fake or not. Some people (etc....). Alot of things can happen when a fake giveaway appears you know.

"Do people enter into giveawys wich no checking profile or just think it is bullshit that people create a giveaway and don't have game?"
I don't check the profiles if they have the game or not, if it's not stated that it's fake I see no reason not to enter if I'm interested in the game.

Better question: why do so many people enter a giveaway although the gifter write in the DESCRIPTION in BOLD and BIG, that this giveaway was an accident?

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Because they were too lazy to read the description. Those that enter AFTER the description says such, that is. Not those the enter before the giveaway creator enlightens those that enter to that fact.

I have two guesses.

  1. They are doing for the "lulz," to piss people off.

  2. They, like so many other users before them, didn't read the rules thought it was a magic button that creates a giveaway that gives THEM a game they want.

Great asnwers, but who says " I don't lose anything", well questions is waht you don't lose: Points or Games? Either way you lose points and those point go directly to these people who create fake giveaways, so in couple of minutes or hours they can get maximum 300 points and then after that they say: "Ops sorry i don't have that game".

1 decade ago

It doesn't work like that. People who make giveaways don't get extra points when people enter; they don't even get points for the giveaways they make. There is absolutely no benefit in making fake giveaways.

As for your question, the reason people enter fake giveaways without checking is because they are robots who click on a giveaway, click "enter to win", and then spam "thanks" without reading the description, checking the profile, or reading other comments. So, yeah, it's the stupid thing, like you said. (I laughed out loud when I read what you wrote: "or either some people are stupid(no offense but it's true)".)

Why do people MAKE giveaways to keys for bundles?

I'd think it'd be common sense.

But hey some people just don't care/are stupid. That applies to this also.

Just because a game isn't on their profile when the give away starts doesn't mean they won't have brought it in time to give it away when the give away has finished

also just because they registered a couple of hours ago and their inventory is private doesn't mean the giveaway is fake ex. http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/2E4rz/dota-2
