It makes me angry that there are going to be exclusive games that I can't play on my normal 3DS. Thanks Nintendo.

Don't worry, you can trade in your 3DS for 1/10 of what you paid for it!

I dont like the exclusives thing either. I was planning to buy a DS this week but now waiting for more info. I just hope the exclusives won't be their big name franchises.

I recently got a 2DS and I'm annoyed at the fact I might miss good games. When the PSP brought out a system with twice the RAM, it just meant original systems would load levels slower than the 2000 and later. Nintendo has to make everyone buy another system to play new 3DS games.

Its obvious. Money. The Wii-U still isn't holding up as well as they want, though Mario Kart 8 helped. The 3DS is doing well, but after replacing their originals with the XL, their auto buy fans haven't had a reason to buy another system. This is how they plan to get more money from them.

And then people ask "why global warming happens". Because of Nintendo!

All joking aside, i just found it somewhat irritating. Since Nintendo is wiped out from my current country, that's OK though.

Turkey. Distributor bankrupted.

Nintendo was too much for Turkey though. Most of people aren't visionary nor have an appetite on games, generally people only play PES, FIFA and Counter-Strike and few other renowned titles. Gaming mostly considered as childish, even if they are 18+ titles.

At first I got really annoyed... I was getting a brand new 3DS XL on the upcoming weeks (which still needs to arrive from the US to x country) and thought my purchase wasn't worth it anymore with newer 3DS models along the way. Then I realized that it probably won't arrive outside JP until 2015. I'll simply use my soon-to-be mine XL in the meanwhile, then sell it for around $100-$130 (since I will not use it for that long and I tend to keep things in brand new condition). Then the New 3DS will technically be just a $30-$80 upgrade, and a pretty good upgrade.

I'm not getting it at release, that's for sure. Will probably only get it when I feel there's enough things exclusive to it that warrant a purchase. Xenoblade isn't enough, and I have that game on Wii already. I probably won't be trading in my 3DS XL though (have the Zelda one).

It felt like a giant slap to those 44 million 3DS owners. Fucking cheap-asses, they are slowly turning into the new EA.

And it fucking has exclusive games, fucking idiots, shouldn't have bought the first 3DS model to begin with, [sarcasm] but hey I got 20 old-as-fuck Nintendo videogames, that's so coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool [/sarcasm]

Actually buying a console is somehow a future giant slap... Don't forget the normal 3DS was released in 2010... so 4 years for a new console (I'm not considering 2DS... because it's nothing new, aside from the "hey let's play 2d games like before, but say it's new !" kind of thing)
It's not that much, as long as good games follow for sure... And if, by chance, it has to get the normal 3ds games cheaper, I'd be quite happy with it...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

What sucks is that they will start releasing games exclusively for the New one. You can't fluctuate the support for the only console you are managing to sell in just 4 years.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

They made an improvement (or so they say ^^), but they won't have retrocompatibility issues so yeah, if you want to play new games, you'll have to buy the new console, like when you wanted to play 3DS games you couldn't with a DS, would it be the XL one... Sony released the PS4 6 years after the PS3 so it's the same thing, only 2 years later... Windows 8 came in 2012, so 3 years after Windows 7... that how the world goes those days, "be quick or be dead"...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Actually, 3DS was released 2011, the PS4 was released 7 years after PS3, and Windows is a very different product in a very different market. The timing just seems extremely odd when the 3DS is gaining some momentum. It would have made more sense to do this for the Wii U.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

They may be different, they're all "products", don't act like you didn't see the point... the more we go on time, the fastest "new" thing comes... would it be a console, a phone, a CPU, an OS or whatever... The Wii U is not working the way they planned, so their backup plan is the portable market, in which they're quite alone (except for casual gaming, where smartphones are more and more kings)

Pretty sure all cool games will be exclusive. Or if not, better played with the new version... They wouldn't sell a lot of console with games that doesn't require it to play...

The main idea behind 2DS was price. Likely targeted towards younger children and their parents than the 3DS. But atleast people who already owned a 3DS didnt miss out on anything when the 2DS came out. Sadly this isnt the case with the New 3DS :(

Come on really? Just like EA for releasing a revamped console? How does that even make sense...I doubt most devs are gonna ignore current 3DS oweners, if anything some games might have better fps on this system or maybe an extra feature or two, come on...

Actually it could make things better for me. Only two games I have ever bought asap for full/almost full price were Pokémon Diamond and Transistor. I feel sorry for you guys, but if it means that new "old" 3DS will get cheaper I don't mind and consider buying it.

Well, as a old-bluelagoon-DS owner, that is not as frustrating as someone who'd just buy his... I never quite understood the concept of the 2DS, and wasn't too hyped about 3DS XL (I have a normal DS XL too so...), but if I had to take one of those last versions (because of games needing this one), it'd be the new 3DS LL for sure. I can't even quite understand why the 2 versions, who would choose the normal screensize over the big one for a difference of like $30 ?

I was actually pleased. Miyomoto recently said he wasn't going to pay attention the casual players,as they've got their smart devices for casual gaming. I believe getting a more powerful hand held will pave the way that was mentioned by him.

Nintendo jumped on the "we want more money fucking up our fans" train. I bought the normal 3Ds because you know, it has lovely games but now they decided to release a ravamped version that will have exclusive games I won't be able to play in my normal one.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You'd still be able to play your games in the new one, so you could sell your old version if you'd want to... It's not that fucking up fans to me... I mean, as long as the games cartridges are the same style... If they changed that like when they changed from GBAdvance to DS, I'd say that's quite fucking up fans, but I didn't read it anywhere so...

Selling my old one wouldn't solve much as stores won't give me much for it you know, money don't grow on trees.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Sure about that ? Damn, I'll go pick up the money I buried in my garden then ! More seriously, stores will rip the hell out of you with buying your console (to sell it 5x the price, like they do with pretty everything), better sell it to someone directly if you want to sell it of course... This being said, games aren't a first necessity either, so I wouldn't cry much over anyone who couldn't play games on the new-released-console... Console that, being released in October, will probably be available for Christmas (at least in Europe) so perfect timing for gifts ;)

More CPU Power, a second analog stick (kind of), more battery life, better working 3D effect and that for the same price as the old one
In my opinion that sounds like a really great upgrade for the 3DS.
But exclusive titles that can't be played with the old 3DS really sucks. The 3DS was released just 3 years ago.
Perhaps the most games will still be released for 3DS and only a few titles, the old 3DS simply cannot handle technically will be on the New 3DS. If not it would really suck.
But to be honest, I'm going to buy the New 3DS anyway. Even if there weren't any exclusive titles. The second stick, the better 3D and the longer battery life are things I always wanted for the old one (circle pad pro doesn't count xD).

Who thinks of these names at Nintendo, seriously?! First, the 3DS doesn't make clear that it's an entirely new system and most of the crowd doesn't get it, then Nintendo fails at proper naming again with the WiiU, which had zero awareness and looked like a tablet controller that you could buy for your Wii, failing to make the new console clear to the masses again and now they name it New 3DS. I hope they change names when they launch it here, or I can see the miscommunication all over again, especially in stores with the exclusive games and angry moms and dads :)

About the system itself, except for the new included extra circle pad on the left there aren't any new buttons right? I've been an early adopter of the 3DS myself and I like the idea of better 3D from all views, cause that irritated me sometimes and I already have a Circle Pad Pro so I don't mind that either, the exclusive games with the new CPU kinda suck though. It's only a port (of a supposedly great game, that is) right now, but I'm curious to see what they do with it in the future, since they announced they had more games in the works for it. Would have liked it more if it would have had better graphics, loading times, etc. but I'll see what the future brings. Don't often play on my 3DS anymore and the only thing I'm looking forward to at the moment is Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and that should be fine so I guess I'm not that bothered with the 'new' system itself.

This was my first reaction. What a dumb name. It'll confuse most casual consumers, not to mention parents who don't actually actively keep up with this type of news. And it just feels ridiculous that 10 years in the future this system will still be called "New 3DS".

They should've called it something other than "the New Nintendo 3DS." Everything I've read about it makes it seem like a new (but still backwards compatible) platform. Calling it the same thing but giving it new and exclusive features just seems like it was designed to aggravate people. I mean no one cares that a PS3 won't play PS4 games, but they certainly expect a PS3 to play PS3 games.
