Do you think that once the sales have ended, the Summer Getaway cards will go up in price in the market? Since you won't be able to get any more of the cards when the sale is done, I'm guessing that others will still want some and be willing to pay a bit for them.

no, they will not

everyone that wants them can generate more than enough for his full set only by voting

by the end of the sale there will be very few ppl that want SS cards

yes. they will. its basic economics. They will no longer drop, so they will be less and less over time and the price will slowly rise. This is not even open for discussion. This is a certainty. This will happen.
also, about the "full set"... you know that the summer badge has 5 levels, right?

This. People who think otherwise are being ignorant.

you realize only half of the picture, there is not only supply, there is another thing called demand

yeah in 3 years new account may give a bit more for them

P.S will mister intelligence buy some robo creates from me on 0.15eur cos they now (almost) don't drop and are very valuable

limited supply, and there will still be demand. The prices will rise. It is that simple. Not saying they will become very valuable, but they will, definitively be higher. No discussion about this. It will happen. Even if its only by a few cents.. Again, basic economics.

Its really just a question of how much. Personally, I doubt it will go up much. Demand won't really change. The kind of people who care about badges already will have their fill of the Summer badge. The other 25k+ people with Summer cards for sale clearly don't.

Plus, if the price ever did go up a little, the market would be flooded by people that have the cards still in their inventory but not on the market.

It seems that I can never create a thread without having some moron come along and getting onto me for making a similar thread. I'm sorry if there are already threads like this, I didn't know.

It is clear that you don't know. Don't know how to use a basic search function, so you open a thread that already exists in N different versions.

I know how to search perfectly. I just wanted others to tell ME their personal opinions about my question. Please, sir, kindly move along and go to some other thread.

Search first, ask later. That is why google was invented.

You are the only one here acting like a moron.

I create a thread asking an honest question. Can I not do that? If you're not an admin or part of support, why should you care? It's not hurting anyone at all.

You're asking a question that was already asked AND answered, so it wouldn't be entirely necessary to create this thread.

Probably. People will keep wanting to craft those badges after the sale ends, since the cards will still be available to use. I expect the foils to get a bigger increase in price, simply because they're so rare and truly the first set of cards that are in short supply and not available to find anymore.

Despite what others say, yes they will.

As the supply to the market is cut, the supply will go down.
BUT, only after a long while will the supply go down enough to drive the price high.
And since the supply will NEVER be able to gain new cards anytime after the sale, the price will be forced to increase.

Look at the :tradingcardfoil: emoticon, it was limited and it's price still on the floor.

yes but unlike emoticons, cards are expendable

Eventually, but not by much. Rarity only gives it value if someone wants it. The supply will never go up, but its unlikely that the demand will ever increase either.

Assuming that the cards are unique to THIS sale event and they will never drop again afterwards? Then yes, they will increase in price. In one or two years they might even be worth 0.20 euros each.

Hell, the value difference might not even be enough to offset inflation. Although, the discount on some titles will be deeper next year, so that stack of dimes could potentially get you something more recent (to a current timeframe).

Given that it has never been possible to earn a sale badge after the sale concluded, I'd say there's a good chance the cards will disappear or become invalid or something after the sale is over. But if they don't, then I imagine the cards might rise in price a little bit, but not for a while.

EDIT: Summer Getaway FAQ says the cards will still be fully valid after the sale is over, never mind.

Read FAQ

Will I be able to craft the Summer Getaway badge after the sale?
Yes, you’ll be able to collect the cards and craft the badge after the sale, but only with cards that have already dropped. When the sale ends, there will be no new Summer Getaway card drops.

The FAQ states that the badge can still be crafted after the sale ends, the cards simply won't drop after the 22nd.

They'll rise, but only by a very small amount. Think about the Vintage Pyro Goggles from TF2. They don't drop any more, yet they're still dirt cheap.

I thought It wold spike. I mean those new to steam might actually want the summer badge for some obscure purpose and will be willing to pay. just like how I still want the Demopan's hat despite the promotion being long done and over. I'd be willing to pay for that hat.

Yup. Sometimes I feel really sad how value of everything just crashes within a day of its release. Sometimes I feel the system is hardwired to make values crash.

Today is the last day of the sale. And the prices has already doubled, from 0.1x to 0.2x
While there are over 35000 offers for each card, if you click and check the prices, you will find that only the first 1000 or less are serious sellers. Beyond that are crazy speculators asking for 400 usd per card.
The supply is actually much lower than it seems.
