The original context was that you were lost in the woods and being hunted by a group of Deliverance-style hillbillies who wanted to rape and murder you, so you were shooting them in self-defence, not deliberately hunting homosexuals who just happen to be randomly standing around in the woods, naked, waiting to rape any men who came by. The reason why Americans aren't the enemies in FPSs has absolutely nothing to do with morals and everything to do with marketing. Western AAA devs aren't going to risk turning off the people they want to buy their game. There isn't a whole lot of sympathy for Nazis, so they're a perfect villain in fictional media. There are some games where you shoot Americans like Spec Ops The Line, but they tend to have a point to make unlike a average WWII game.

+1, I remeber there was a famous Youtuber (i forgot his username), but he had like half a million subscribers; but he considered himself as an "islamaphobic", in his intro he shot prophet mouhammed, and I scrolled down and looked at the dislike/like bar, and the dislikes wwaayyyy exceeded the likes; so I went to another one of his videos and the same thing.

A new free game app launched this weekend on Google Play, but we’re not recommending you download it: Ass Hunter, a hunting simulator that allows players to shoot naked gay men with a shotgun.
The game is described by developer “App Day” thusly:

Legendary game, where you are hunter and your mission is to kill gays as much as you can or escape between them to the next level. Gays may be hidden in bushes and unexpectedly catch you.
