Well it's not that scary,mostly just some random sudden encounters ... But if you read everything in game and watch your surroundings, you might actually get scared while playing.

I could only play it for 2 hours, I'm not that scared but just bored.

outlast is awesome ...one of my favourite games (+adrenaline if you play in dark)

I had a similar reaction when I started this game last month. I jumped back and slammed my knee against the table and woke up everybody at my place. (played at night with lights out for the extra atmosphere)

Finished the main game though but struggling with the DLC. Too chicken to finish the Whistleblower campaign at the moment.

I don't have it yet so I used to watch LP's of Outlast and I think my hearth is not strong enough to play this hell alone xd.

Seems like I really have to buy the game!

I played it for the first time last night while high and the first jump scare nearly gave me a heart attack. The adrenaline shot around my body actually hurt. Fuck me, not sure I'm gonna touch it again any time soon... That and trying to remember what the hell was going on was a struggle. Like I'd collect the key card and then wander around tentatively trying to remember what I needed it for. The fact that you're being hunted doesn't help in the slightest.

The game gets incredibly boring. The atmosphere is creepy, but some of the jump scares are cheap. And pretty much the only form of escaping predators is hiding or running.

How can you be so scared of this game. Anytime the monster is close there's a song. There's no surprise.
I find this game boring as hell and not scary at all. My heart died way much in Amnesia or Cry of Fear than that.

But that's just me.

I just finished it again. Now it's time for Whistleblower DLC. I hope that Red Barrels will continue making horror games and that their next one will be twice as scary as Outlast. I love such games, I feast on such experiences <3

I've seen too many people play it for it to be scary to me I think. I'd probably remember where all the scares are.... :\

I just felt sad they didn't include the rape scene. The game already is traumatizing... it'd be the cherry on the top of the cake.
