Here: Or just don't give the points that it normally gives to everyone until the giveaway has completed and the flags have been set to received.
A single user comment, in one months time, even after being linked and pointed out in multiple threads like the Forum Suggestion List. Maybe it is not me who doesn't know what he is talking about.
We all love the site, and are grateful to CG for making it happen. But please let him speak for himself instead.

I'd definitely support it. Fake giveaways no longer generating points would kill any reason to create fake giveaways.

I think it's a good idea. Or at least make new giveaways go through a trial period, not generating points till they are complete. So someone making a giveaway for the first time wouldn't generate points until the giveaway is complete and they receive feedback. Then it would generate points for that giveaway and future giveaways.

The one potentially broken part would be if a bunch of high value games were posted and ended at around the same time. Since their points were not yet added to the pool, the only points available would be from finished giveaways. It could be likely that if enough high value games were posted, a user could bankrupt most other users and then use their own points other, now empty, giveaways.

I think everyone agrees that something needs to be done about creating fake giveaways only to generate points. It is also annoying not knowing which giveaways are real, and which are fake.
Awarding points only after a giveaway recipient has reported "received" will greatly discourage people from creating fake giveaways for points, only to say "delete" right after. Also, I'm sure it'll lift a great burden off of our mods.
I realize this method will come with the unfortunate side effect of, well delaying points, and not always lining up points necessary to enter a giveaway and accumulated points. For the first week or so, it'll be rough, but it'll settle down in the future.
What do you guys think? Anything I'm missing?
