I'm currently having a problem where Chrome is permanently minimized (the window is open on the taskbar) and I can't open up the window (bring it to the front/ unhide it). This happened after launching Dead Island and Alt-Tabbing out and I'm pretty sure that this has happened before but I can't remember how I fixed it. This happened to my Steam friends list window a while ago too for no apparent reason (Dead Island wasn't involved). I've tried restarting the computer but that didn't do anything. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix it?

could just be that it's offscreen
best tool I've found for that sort of issue is NirSoft's WinLister. Usually, just having it center the window works for most things that are being especially stubborn.

My condolences. I picked up a Dell catalog the other day and noticed of the 10 or so computers in it, only one was being sold with W8. All others came with W7. LOL. Your move, Microsoft.

Its got a horrible UI and a huge cache. But its surprisingly faster than Win7.

No luck, I don't think conventional methods of reopening the window are going to work here.

You can try ending the process on task manager and then opening Chrome again.

I've already tried both directly closing and ending the process through task manager. Upon reopening it's still permanently minimized.

Will the extensions remain unaffected or will I have to reinstall those too?

If you're logged in a Google account on Chrome, then yes, they'll all come back.

Does pressing F11 bring the browser in full screen mode?

It would usually.

Try checking your monitor settings and see what it says. Something like this happened to a friend of mine and the solution was that somehow, Windows 8 had set itself into thinking that he had 2 monitors and it was maximizing the browser window on the other, non-existent monitor.
