I am expecting to see inside the winter DayZ to go on discount as within the summer i saw no discounts on it.

My question is: Has DayZ gone in discount before? And if so, when and how much was the discount?

I am expecting a 66% or 75% before i buy it (as i am not intended to give 24 Euros for an Alpha game).

No way DayZ is going to get any big discount before the devs complete it.

Well, it's already at least -33% discount from base price it will have when they will finally stop developing it :P

Games that aren't really finished yet never get a high discount, and they shouldn't. If you buy an unfinished game it's your own fault. Anyways, 33% was the most I saw for an unreleased game before.

Sadly this isn't true, there are tons of early access games that drop in price drastically, mostly when the game is about to be abandoned or if the devs just don't understand how to price their game. (prime example would be Takedown: red sabre)
I've seen dozens of games that I considered picking up that had 50-90% off during a large sale, it doesn't happen often outside of that though.

Did not know that. I probably only paid attention to the "AAA" titles then, if you could call them that. You know DayZ, The Forest and so on.

Specifically, well received games yeah, that made it to the frontpage, indie or AAA doesn't really matter in my experience it's more a matter of "will they still buy it" Day-Z has had a huge following since day 1 so they've never had to experiment with the price to get some sales unlike a lot of smaller indie titles.
I think experience plays a huge role in this, it seems that a lot of devs who're not backed by a studio panic once their sales drop after the initial hype over a game is over or it's no longer featured on the frontpage and instead of improving the game so they get more sales through word of mouth they resort to huge discounts (which are almost never featured on the frontpage) to get some extra cash not realizing a lot of those people would have paid full price if only the game was finished, but by setting a heavy discount they've created a low point in the price that a lot of people will take into consideration when looking to buy the game forcing them to set the same discount again to gain a few sales.

Very well put. This is why I don't like when unfinished (or not-yet-released games to be exact, looking at you EA) games get discounted. From what I heard DayZ is still pretty much broken at some point because of some of the mechanics in the game, something about spawns and item drops and so on. I heard it about it on Rooster Teeth's "The Patch" so I can't confirm this from my own experience. I think the only early access game I actually bought is Assetto Corsa and that is getting updated like several times a week.

But yes overall this whole early access thing is very dangerous for both customers and developers. Just look at "Stomping Land". I hope early access (I just realized...EA...early access XD) will take a healthier direction than the whole DLC thing.

From what I remember wasn't a DayZ only discount. Bohemia Studios had celebrated it's 15th anniversary and they had a discount on all their games.

I don't think you'll see DayZ under 20 Euro anytime soon.

Why would it have discounts when it's constantly on top 10 sellers list, even though it's still in alpha.

Just wait longer. The Alpha phase will last over a year so who knows, it might even pop up in a bundle before the full release which is probably a couple years away.

Honestly don't buy it. Play the mod it's more complete then the actual game. Also don't support these guys. They can't estimate time well and they can't price their game correctly. $60 when fully released really? Why would I pay $60 for your game when I can keep playing the mod for free.

Don't expect any discount, even that 15% discount during steam sale wasn't supposed to happen, plus game will a lot cost more when its finished.

So if you don't wanna spend 20 euros then you will probably not play this game in next 3+ years.

I think it will hit 50% at winter. Its still a top seller though, so I wouldnt be surprised if its a lower discount (25-30%). Im with you though, I'm not getting it until much later, if at all. I'm not a big fan of the survival games.
