Hi,anyone knows if now that Steam is supporting new currency, will it implement new region restrictions?
Just asking cause Mexican people seem to be getting very cheap prices, even lower than Brasil.

Edit: forgot little something.

All games are ROW for now. and prices are cheaper from Brasil, US or EU. SEA region and RU are still cheapest. But if the game is region restricted, i thing TR Store will be the cheapest.

I don't think I have seen any region-lock for SEA. Also the cheapest store after RU and SEA changes from item to item between BR,TR and MX. For example, this or this . BR beats both MX and TR more than 15 percent

i mean generally.

there was some games region locked as SEA.(and RU at that time) i cant remember them which one but i had to buy from BR trader.

and every price i checked in TR is cheaper than BR. MX is mostly cheaper than TR. (except that one you added with edit)

my head started to hurt like hell. there is to much currencies now :S

Examples added. And actually most of the items I checked either BR beats by a considerable margin or there is a slight margin for TR/MX's favor but after seeing your post I checked some other things and yep there are some items that are way cheaper on TR/MX than BR

every game from SEA with AllowCrossRegionTradingAndGifting tag is locked.

Comment has been collapsed.

well yes but I haven't seen a game particularly locked for that region. It's either locked for every region (in which case TR will not be the cheapest again since it will have a locked one, too) or SEA has the ROW one

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

well, AllowCrossRegionTradingAndGifting does not mean a lock for every region. e.g. us copies with that tag are region free.

So far it seems Campcom and Activision are not gonna be bros with Mexico, they have mostly priced everything higher than in US store xD

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Just checked and Activision seems to have fixed that, checked prices for a few of their games and they were cheaper in pesos. Although just checked Advanced Warfare and it's more expensive in pesos, so it seems to depend on the game.

Yeah i went straight to check some RE titles and thought all the Mex prices were more expensive than US but seems that only some companies are being dicks with this, most prices are really cheap

I don't know why, but it kind of amuses me or interests me how these new currencies can open up possibiliites to new traders or screw over those who have been trading a while.

it doesn't change anything. Ru Store is still the cheapest. Generally.

Brazilains normally do some good businees, particularly on certain games. Is it not affecting them?

I'm seeing more Indonesian/Thai traders since these price changes although some of their stuff was because of price errors (Paradox Platinum Pack) or on region exclusive dscounts (Heileen 3 for like $0.02 or whatever it was).

Yes though, Russia is still cheapest overall.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

yeah. it already changed for them. and i am looking but there is no price error for tr now :D. i was buying from russian traders and selling to my turkish customers. now its over. it is changed for me.

i am gonna buy from a russian but its just for me. business is over :(

It's not always the cheapest. sometimes CIS dollar region (Ukraine I guess) is the cheapest. And some items do not exist in RU store (or region-locked) but available in SEA store like Payday 2 4-pack thingie

Strictly speaking, you're not actually 'paying more' in most cases. You're just paying adjusted price you'd otherwise pay through exchange rates. Objectively, a few things are actually cheaper when you compare the USD price converted to CAD price. There are only a few games I've seen so far that have actually been inexplicably more expensive, these being Final Fantasy VII and VIII.

no if you go in real us store and canadian store the price is 1: 1 60 us = 60 can, but with steam they made 10 % higher for barely all game or even 20 $can higher like nba 2k15 (40 % higher)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well that 10% is about the same as it was before CA$ was introduced to the Steam Store since going thru the exchange rate was making it 10% more expensive. No need to compare with real stores nothing has changed there.

Games are cheap on Brazil?
That's what you think. Ok, most of the games are cheaper but there are some exceptions. And those exceptions are about 5~~10 dollars more expensive. Dayz is 30 dollars (I think) and it was 80 Reais (something about 40 dollars), now the price lowered for 70 Reais (35 dollars, roughly). But once there was a game that was about 50 dollars and 200 Reais (100 dollars).

You know... the new ones... that I forgot the word for them and I just can't remember... "lançamentos" in portuguese... usually are 510 dollars more expensive, but the "old" games (not the really new ones) are about 510 dollars cheaper. And, you know... chances are you're buying the new stuff, not the old stuff. Soooo... yeah...

[EDIT] Whoa, I've just read what I wrote... I don't know if what I wrote doesn't make sense or it is just because I'm almost sleeping on my keyboard... Sorry about my English, btw, I'm sleepy ;-;

Edit: Ayrıca Evil Within, Lords of the Fallen, Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth gibi yeni gelecek ve çıkacak olan birçok oyun için sınırlama:Gift purchases for Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth can only be added to the gift recipient's library if they are in Turkey. bulunmakta ona da dikkat etmeni tavsiye ederim.

For some reason Ubisoft titles are overpriced in the Turkish store. For example, Far Cry 4 is being sold for 179,00 TL (Gold Edition is 220,00 TL) which equals to 79.75 USD (Gold Edition is 98.01 USD). What's up with that?

Edit: Just noticed, they are actually converting from Euro instead of USD. Of course, 59€ = 59$ right? Well fuck you Ubisoft.
