Hi everybody!
So long story short I decided to make this group. I'm not going to invest many hours into this, I'm short of spare time, so it will be just a vehicle for giveaways. I'll invite Mac and Linux users/gamers into the group (be know to me as a Mac or Linux user/gamer or prove on this thread you are one). When I'm ready I'll gift my steamplay games here.
Every member will be able (but not requested) to also gift games to other members, without any special rule in place besides not breaking any applicable law, contract and service agreement (for instance steam or steamgifts.com ones).
If this is duplicate, please tell me and I'll be more than happy to join any other similar initiative. If this does not work, I'll just trash it.
Please refrain from flaming or similar bullshit about Mac and Linux gaming ;P
EDIT: I didn't mean to be courious about other's desktops, but I must admit I like to peek into your shiny screenshots; thanks for sharing them!
EDIT2: here you have some free stuff; redeem the keys on desura and play the games on mac and linux:) gone...
EDIT3: I wonder if anybody would like to participate to the group as a mod... let me know...

I use both Mac and Windows for gaming (game on Mac when possible, but have a Windows laptop, and soon will be setting up Parallels Desktop and a fresh hard drive for Windows on my Mac). Do I still count?
I hate the bad rep Mac gaming gets, so this group got my attention (otherwise about all of my spare time is eaten up by my own group).

Well I have w7, debian and XP on my machine, but I see no point of using steam on linux - considering that you basically emulate it with wine.

not sure linux steam just does wine, at least valve games are going to be native, and i'd say more to come will be as well
still i see (almost) no point when you have an xp box hanging around

I dual booted Ubuntu on my previous PC, but haven't yet installed on my new desktop. I'm about to wipe my laptop of windows and go full Linux if possible though.

Step by step Apple PCs are descending in price and more game were released on Mac and more compatibilities that weren't some years ago, I have Mac since 2008-2009, and still working good, any normal not ultra good Windows by this date would be half broken =S, and I hear from friends of my father friend that they have Mac with 9. version this is old do not know if older than Windows XP or not, think not, and they still work fine an price of one used is still good XD. In the newest overpowered Mac towers you can have Windows installed paralelly and it will be a really good one with 8-32 Gb Ram, only have to see the Video Card, but normally Macs have ATI, but this ones are the newest and really expensive, normally a normal person never will buy it =D Like this ones xd: http://www.apple.com/macpro/

I have been running linux side-by-side with windows :) but now as the Steam for Linux has been "released" I can enjoy even more games :) Invite me in so :)

now that we are on linux/mac topic, i've been trying to install fedora 17 on my 5,1 macbook pro but cant seem to make it work, i remember at work i found a forum with some people discussing the issue and someone seemed to have solved it, but i cant find it anymore... any help would be more than welcome!
I do dual boot because I have to for some programs, but I prefer to do things on the Mac OS side of my Macbook Pro.

i'd like to join -- can't wait for steam on linux! (i am not in the beta yet). i don't have a mac but i dual boot windows and ubuntu and played penumbra overture in ubuntu.
I'd like to join as well. I'm not in the steam linux beta, but maybe this screenshot (which I now deleted) of Steam running in wine will make you happy as well :)

I installed steam using Wine on Ubuntu. It was actually not that big a pain as I thought it would be. I'm having trouble installing my graphics card in Ubuntu so I never really got to test the gaming part of it though :-(

i guess that steam running in wine does not mean the games automagically run in wine too, you'll have to make a container for each and every game, won't you?

Unfortunately I can assert that's correct, worse still, steam itself isn't even half as responsive as native applications (at least in my experience) :(

Well... steam runes quite well, I didn't have any luck with any games though :( I use the open source AMD drivers and I never had much luck with them in combination with wine.

Hi Andrea. Can I join? :-) I have my little white Macbook (the last of the Macbook series before it was discontinued) which I play on when I'm not at my main PC. I also plan to get a second SSD for a dual boot on my main PC to try out Steam on Ubuntu.
why don't you share with us a pic of it? i've been discovering that it's entertaining to see what others decide to post :)
for sure that white mb is very nice and has a good value imho, the nvidia gpu should let you play most indies...

Cool. Here is my Little Macintosh
It's great for Indie games but I can also play Source games on it like Portal 2 and L4D2 as well as others like Assassin's Creed II and GTA III series games. :-)
