As the title says, can I have a user killed? Or do I get irritated easily?

User wins one of my giveaways but did not mark it as received so I sent a follow up email with reply, nothing came back.

Fast forward a couple of days, I add the user as a friend on Steam to make sure, this is accepted and I send a direct message, no reply.

Another 24 hours pass and the user finally replies, saying they gave the gift away to their friend. I ask if they will mark the prize as received, to which the reply is that they won't, unless I pay them money.

Can I kill them?

Just to add, I have contacted support with full evidence. I just wondered whether it is worth calling a hit on them.

UPDATE

Support replied in this thread, the user got a permaban. Result.

Deep web is all honeypots. Don't do it.

Just go into the yellow book and look for pest exterminators.

i cant help but feel this is why no one would send anything by email. ALWAYS add them via steam... its less trouble

Would have been the same. What's the difference? He would receive the game via trade and then say the same.

• Don't trade, sell, resubmit, or give away games you win.

Exactly. And now also don't ask for money (WTF) to the winner after gifting away a game you've won (again, WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THAT ASSHOLE?!).

And not marking the gift as recieved is a dick move on his part >_<

Just to point out, I think you're not allowed to ask the guy to mark the game received if you know he didn't activate it.

Wouldn't that be hilarious, if I was the one banned.

Permalink

WTF are you talking about.. he received the game so he should mark it as received.. what he does with the key/gift after shouldn't affect thatt in any way.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

This. IIRC you actually have to mark it as received because you received it. If you decide to not actually use it, however, you get in trouble for it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yep and I never said otherwise. The thing is once you gave away the game what matters is if it was marked as received then it's out of your hands. If the game-receiver is too stupid or doesn't know better it's his own problem at that point.

That's what you get for making GAs with no CV requirement, 0.01 CV GAs FTW!! :v

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

This is also why I make my giveaways private or group. Too many of these threads have persuaded me away from making public giveaways.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

But that's too much... I mean, all these problems are related to no CV requirement GAs, there's no need to make every single GA private or for group cause with public GAs from 0.01 CV requirement onwards everything goes as smooth as silk.

Agree. Why can't we not?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Easy

First, regular users can't do anything anyway, apart from harassment.

Second, it's very easy for someone to make baseless allegations through misunderstanding or malice and start a witch-hunt against someone who didn't even do anything.

You have a problem with someone, you bring it to support, where things can be sorted out and moderators can actually take action, like suspensions. If you try to make it public and start a witch-hunt, no one will be able to do anything but harass the user and maybe even cause them to get rid of any evidence of wrongdoing before someone who can actually do something gets to see it. On top of that, you'll wind up being the one on the wrong end of a suspension, as calling out users is strictly prohibited. No public accusations are allowed here whatsoever.
