Invite fix? What do YOU think?

So my idea is... User Classes! Posts, comments, giveaways entered will qualify you for X class. The whole idea of it is a maximum amount of invites per class. Invites should still cost to make.

Also an invite-tree system where mods and you can see who you invited Ect.

  • User/Default = 0 invites
  • Power user 1-3?
  • Elite User More

Should refresh and add new invites as the underlings are vetted.

Class names, maybe? Something more flavorful; like Pyro/Heavy/Medic Ect. Hmm... Gordon, Alex, Stryder, Headcrab, G-man for Cult(?) But flavor matters a lot less.

Edit(7/31/11): Also how old an account is! With a minimum amount of forum posts, comments, and giveaways entered.

I don't really know. I was thinking that sort of. But nearly anyone can get a Humble bundle. Excluding X games is unfair and hard to do.

But there are ones who can't give or buy their own games, and this site should be for them too. I was one of them, before. They can also still be good members of this community without giving games.

Which is what invites are about, growing the community without abuse.

But if you make the system grant the user levels per giveaways entered, give it few weeks and we're all power users. Kinda kills the idea then, no?

That sounds good. It'd help make more users create giveaways, but it wouldn't demand that all do.

This sounds like a fun idea, it would give users something to fiddle. But at the same time it is quite exploitable, you can easily increase your post count with forum posts saying only "I agree." and giveaway count with Humble Shotguns.

They could say that humble bundles and shotguns don't count toward the number of giveaways and set a bar for number of words needed.

I have seen this done on a website I go onto a lot. Because of this, there is a lot of spamming on the site so they could get easy points.
