My 3 years old rig easily meets those minimum requirement and almost all of the recommended ones, except for the CPU.

There's nothing really insane about these.

Core i5-4460 (3.40GHz) for minimum requirements are insane.
I bought that exact processor 15 months ago.

Intel hasn't exactly been making strides in CPU power. That CPU is only a hair more powerful than the old system requirement's CPUs. The power difference would be completely unnoticeable in games, essentially.

Sorry if i was harsh it really wasn't intended, just thought people too lazy to google should know. The CPU seems a bit of an overkill though i can't imagine why it would take that CPU to just run it, but of course it could change

Why? The only thing questionable is the processor requirements. A 760 is the recommended GPU and its not even that powerful compared to the newest cards released.

Its nothing like FC3's minimum suggestions before release where they said you needed an i7 @ 3.5 or 4ghz? and an GTX x80 SLI config with 8GB system RAM or something ridiculous like that. After it was released, the game ran fine maxed out on a i5s @ 3ghz and a single x70 cards.

Right. Idiots for being a dev that's finally making a true next-gen game engine that will only scale up and be able to produce ridiculously lush visuals and physics simulations as it's used by more and more games over time. Idiots for finally truly advancing the industry and giving those that have had proper gaming rigs a game that actually makes use of all that powerful hardware we've been sitting on all these years, unused (or abused by horrible ports / badly optimised games).

I get what you are trying to say, but we have been let down over and over again by companies that release broken games. Dont get me wrong. I hope you are right. I hope that the game scale up to high hell. I also put my hopes in CDProject to provide us with a masterpiece unlike we have ever seen.

New system requirements: Xbox One, Playstation 4, Xbox 360 or Playstation 3

p.s. why Kojima decided to release it on PC in first place? Why you need this game, if you didn't played previous games? You don't know anything about story. If you played it on consoles, why you need PC release? It was released in March! HD Collection was released in 2011 on Xbox 360\PS3\PS VITA

Why would you need a reason to get it on PC ? I don't own neither PS3 nor 360, no PS4 nor Xbone. I'm glad they're finally considering the PC platform.

Also you don't need to have played previous games but the scenario is a big part so you'll be missing on a lot if you haven't. Most of them can be played on emulators.

Everything already been said, but Ill add that the original was on the NES, and then the solid series was released for the PS1 and then PS2. Why do you insist a game remain a console exclusive? Its not like previous gens where it takes a significant amount of time and resources to port over the game from PS4 or Xbox1's environments to windows.

On the processor yes, but GPU and ram wise? Its the average PC gaming rig if it was built within the last 2 years. Loads of people have upgraded to 970s and 980s since they are crazy cheap for their power. 760's are also about the same as a single 670 +/- a few FPS. Plenty of 670s and 760+ cards available second hand now. Shit, I picked up a FTW 670 to sli with for 115 about 6 months or so ago BEFORE the 970's hit the market.

Japanese devs usually don't give a rat's ass about PC, they usually put out completely wrong specs for their games. Example: MGR Revengeance had GTS 450 as minimum. I completed it on GTS 250 at 1920x1080, on hig details with constant 60fps (rest of the config: i5 750k 2.6GHz, 8GB RAM).

It could just be that they're driving hardware sales. Games often do this, embellishing system requirements so that people start getting up to speed with the current market. The requirements aren't that astonishing, really, and their engine is pumping some seriously beautiful visuals. People should stop being so quick to push the accusation button. For all you know they're Kojima is upping his PC game, providing us with improved visuals for the PC version.

For all those complaining this game is coming to PC, I hope you remember that the next time you see a game you absolutely must have, only to find out it's exclusive to some console. Metal Gear has been on PC before, and this could open the gates for a port of previous games in the series, just as well as future games, bringing Kojima back in our community.

Get bent, haters.

Kojima, my body is ready.

Not saying you have to buy new GPU right away, but I'm pretty sure ending of 2015, maybe a bit later in 2016 will be the year when we'll read GeForce 7xx as minimum on every new release (yeah, not even 6xx). Or maybe they'll skip it and go straight for 9xx?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

At that point, you might as well buy the newest GTX 1280 flagship card and be able to run the newest games at 1440p ultra settings instead of trying to find a used 770+ and just meeting requirements.

Ugh, I know Im getting itchy to upgrade my hardware... Next gen.. for sure, all stuffed in a cute ITX tower. I tell myself at night...

Well, on one hand I'm still waiting to see where those minimum requirements for next-gen will be, on the other hand when I glanced at GF9xx prices I need them to fall around $150-200 before I'll be able to purchase one.

How many people upgrade their rig just to run a single game? More so, how many people do that BEFORE actually getting the game and trying it on their current rig?

Seriously, in order to "Just" upgrade the cpu, you would need a new mobo AND ram. There is easily 380-420 right there.

I basically got a new computer for Just Cause 2 because I was still running at 32-bit and that computer was slow. I just needed a push.

You can easily replace the CPU/GPU/RAM without needing a new board, unless you were against upgrading the computer in the future. Mobo and RAM are rather cheap. I expect that much for a high-end GPU.

I think they do it just to make sure the game runs smooth, like they're afraid of the various hardware configurations don't play so well with their optimisations.

Remember that Watch_Dogs suggested people use a quad-core hyperthreaded CPUs? As in, 8 cores (4 physical)? Yeah. :P

lately? PC games have ALWAYS over estimated requirements. I remember games as far back as '95 that over estimated requirements. The reason they do that is because devs have no sodding idea what you might be running or be infected with that will drag down your computer's resources. They dont want to have to bother walking some poor user through 20 steps of fixing a problem because he just barely matches the posted specs but has 200 FF tabs open streaming HD porn. They would rather just say, "well, you dont meet the posted min requirements" and be done with it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Lol, well I wouldn't know that far back! I was only 2 in '95. :P

I can understand why they'd inflate it a little bit, but what I was trying to convey is that the "minimum requirements" these days just seem completely blown out of proportion. I don't remember them being this insane a few years ago.
