I'd suggest Fargo, either the show or movie. Both are really great, especially if you're into dark comedy.

here's a few suggestions:

  • chronicle
  • watchmen
  • how to train your dragon 1&2 (watch the series too if you feel the need to see everything, but you can go on even without)
  • the wind rises
  • all pixar movies
  • Sherlock
  • hot fuzz
  • the marvel movie universe (i'd start with iron man and cap America)
  • bicentennial man
  • the prestige
  • mr. selfridge
  • outlander
  • suits
  • mad men
  • masters of sex
  • breaking bad
  • manhattan
  • if you're interested in anime full metal alchemist: brotherhood (avoid the first take on the manga as i don't think it's worth seeing)
  • cowboy bebop
  • lupin 3rd
  • tonari no seki-kun(very fun short mini episodes)
  • on to western style cartoons (in the broad sense, they are aimed at adults/young adults) bojack horseman
  • archer
  • rick and morty
  • adventure time
  • avatar the last airbender & the legend of korra (avoid the movie, I found it rubbish)
  • lots more
i haven't written them in any particular order, if you want some personal recommendations add me in steam and we can talk

Homeland / Tyrant are two series I'm watching atm, I'd recommend them if you like good acting and great scripts sometimes plenty of simplistic views about cultures, which allow us to criticize it or rather demonize foreigners. :D

Supernatural and Smallville

I never watched much after season 1, but a show called Legend of the Seeker was really good and the few episodes I watched from its other seasons didn't show signs of it losing quality. The description they give doesn't give it justice you really have to watch about 4-5 episodes to get the premise
