Hey guys, long time lurker rare poster, I would be grateful if people took a look at my inventory and helped me decide what to play next. I'd appreciate ignoring AAA games as I am already aware that I should play them or there is a reason that I haven't played them such as finishing them on another console. However if you can state a decent case for why I should bump those games up the "I need to play them asap" list I'd appreciate it. Just please refrain from "play Saints Row 4 cuz it iz da bests".

I'll randomly drop a few keys here and there to people who give detailed responses or informative responses.

Thanks for being a great community guys! Here's me trying to get more involved! First key I'll drop is for Frozen Synapse to the first person who gives a detailed response who actually wants the game. Would just drop the key but I'd rather it went to a loving home than a ninja's.

play Saints Row 4 cuz it iz da bests

I see you've already tried Cook, Serve, Delicious! but since you only have 2 hours logged in, it might be idling... Anyway, I love this game! The gameplay is fast-paced but it's not really hard to get the hang of it. It's a lenghty game (about 30 hours to 100% it) and although it becomes a little bit grindy towards the end, it's still enjoyable because I think the audio and visuals are great...

Same thing for Legend of Grimrock, you've played it for only 1 hour. Is it because you don't like that genre? It's a really great game if you're into dungeon crawling and you like finding secrets. Also the sequel just came out (I've heard it's even better but still haven't bought it myself so can't really tell you...) so it might be worth getting back into it! It's also a lenghty game (I'd say 20-30 hours to complete and maybe 10-20 more hours to 100% it)...

Another is LEGO Lord of the Rings. GREAT GAME! You don't even need to be a LotR &/or LEGO nerd to appreciate it so that's a plus! Campaign averages 20 hours I'd say, but if you want to get all the collectibles, it can take up to 50 hours. The gameplay may be a little bit on the easy side but it's fun nevertheless! Visuals are surprisingly good (I didn't know what to expect of a mix between 'real' textures and LEGO textures, but the end result is great)!

Those are three of my favorite games and I really recommend them!

Edit: I hope you don't mind lengthy games! :P

Thanks for being the first in depth review! If you want Frozen Synapse then add me on steam :)

As for the games, I liked Cook Served Delicious, I haven't really idled anything. It just got lost in the deluge of other games that I wanted to play and ended up on the backburner. I might give it another shot.

Legend of Grimrock actually enticed me in quite a bit, I tend to have 1 major project on the go(like Skyrim or an RPG/Shooter which i'll get collectables) and one smaller game like Limbo which I can play when the former pisses me off. Grimrock was meant to be my unwind game but I ended up playing for an hour without realising! So that will definitely get more investment in it.

As for the LEGO games, I tend to play those with my girlfriend, I love them but only really as a game to play with someone else.

Thanks for the informative response!

You're welcome! I already own Frozen Synapse (and have played it for like 30 minutes but couldn't get into it)... Anyway, I wasn't even doing that for the free game - but thanks for feeling generous! ;)

Gotta help those users with overwhelming backlogs! I'm in the same boat myself... :P

Sad you don't have This War of Mine but I guess you could play XCom: Enemy Unknown (not sure if you have Enemy Within though). One of the best turn based strat games against aliens. Playing Tomb Raider again would be nice. Who wouldn't love Lara?

I'm not good at recommending, because most of time I can't even say why I like something, so here's what I found in your library with short useless commentary:
The Cat Lady - I've just started this one, it's interesting point and click with dark themes.
System Shock 2 - old, but awesome, still manages to freak me out
Shadowrun: Dragonfall Director's Cut - if you liked Shadowrun Returns this is even better (at least my best friend claims so, I haven't had chance to play it yet)
all Fallouts, especially Fallout 2 with Fallout 2 Restoration mod, but I love all of them
Bioshock - another my favorite you haven't played, contains nice plot twist

Nice review! You are good at recommending games don't worry!

Different to most lists on here, you picked a bunch of games that I hadn't actually played at all except Bioshock. I finished that on release on the xbox. It has been a LONG time though so the plot isn't really fresh in my mind at all, I concur fantastic game.

System Shock was picked up because I liked Bioshock 1/2/3 so much. I've heard Bioshock is the spiritual successor to this but haven't given it any time. Any opinions on similarities?

The Cat Lady I heard was good and managed to snag a free copy, it sat collecting dust forgotten about until now. Will definitely consider putting it on the "to play" list.

Well, they are very similar ("hello, wrench, my old friend"), but System Shock 2 has much creepier atmosphere (Alien: Isolation would be more suitable as spritual successor), RPG elements (you can craft items, hacking is a very important skill, psionic abilities = plasmids, though some of them are really useless) and inventory. Also, System Shock 2 has co-op mode, but it's very buggy. Story is good in both, SS2 has better writing imho.

I loved Saints Row 3 but only finished it about a week ago, don't want to over do the same game type by starting 4 and getting bored of it.

Trine 2 was superb, finished that with my friend. Loved it.

Half Life I have finished on xbox.

Batman is one of my all time favourite games, finished them to death on xbox.

The Witcher is my main thing I've got my eye on in this list. It's really high on my "to play" list and I really love the look of it, I started the Witcher 1 some time back to gauge what it was like and I just could not get into it at all. Didn't seem to have that instant hook. Is it a slow burner or will I struggle to enjoy it as it keeps a similar pacing?

The original has important plot points and decisions that carry over in 2 and the combat in Witcher 2 is overhauled and better than 1.
But once you get used to the combat system,(it's more turn based sword-clicking in 1 than the sequel's hack and slash ) it gets a whole lot of fun.
There is still plenty of time to catch-up until Witcher 3 so have fun and enjoy the story. It takes a while but it gets better as you play.

SR4 is just something else with super powers, aliens, etc. I recommend playing it after some serious gaming .

Well, first of all, you should play your Payday 2 more often. They're constantly updating the game, adding features, skill trees, contracts and cross-overs with other games or movies and they just announced that they're gonna support the game for 2 more years. Sure they have tons of paid dlcs but you can skip them if you don't happen to like the guns or host games a lot. I've never seen such support from a developer before and considering that they're just 50 Swedish guys, makes it more interesting. Besides, the game is fun, no argue there.

I suggest buying one of the Magic: The Gathering games (anything besides 2015 when they turned it to giant money-sucking bullshit). The community may be less than it was before but the gameplay makes up for it. Reviewing the possibilities in your mind and turning the game in the last second with a huge comeback have made some of the most enjoyed moments of my gaming life.

Another AAA game that's worth more attention from you is Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. After playing mediocre FPS games like CoD and Battlefield (*grabs popcorn), I appreciate the spray pattern and the planning style of CSGO much more. There are limited number of paths to a target and believe it or not, it makes it more intense to decide which way and how to attack. If you happen to know certain maps and work well with others, you'll never get surprised because of some unrealistic abilities/skills you see in other games.

And Mount And Blade of course, once you get in, you can hardly get out. Enough said.

Hope I'd helped.

Thanks for the informative response, I can offer you Worms Pinball if you wish to have it. Just add me on steam for a copy!

First of all, Payday 2, I REALLY want my friends to play it, I just can't get them interested. I tried to play it online with randoms but I just seemed in way over my head and didn't have a clue what I was doing. I got arrested very fast and some guys raged at me. I felt stupid and it put me off a bit. It's a shame really because the entire game looks amazing and reminds me a bit of Left 4 Dead but robbing a bank. Which my friend group played countless hours on.

My friends play Magic 2014. I like card games but I didn't like the demo, what scope is there for obtaining new cards and earning better decks? I like buying and building my own decks in games like this in a progressive way. Not in a pay to win way, more an ingame currency way.

Counter Strike suffered from the same thing Payday 2 did, the learning curve is intense. I went in a few games, sucked major balls and lost patience with it. I played quite a bit of Battlefield 3 back in the day. I played COD in School from CoD1 upto Modern Warfare 1. I prefered Counter Strike, I just really had little tolerance for a game that required me to sink so many hours into it, I'm a League of Legends player so my time to dedicate to one game to get good at it is fairly small. Also the boxes and keys thing puts me off, is it pay to win?

Mount and Blade got picked up in last weeks weekly deal. Looking forward to playing it, thats up there on the next to play list not just in a backlog list.

You have helped!

It's good to hear that you found my suggestions useful. I would have offered more games, but you either have played them or they don't need any introduction.

Payday 2 is a lot more fun with friends, I totally agree. I've had the pleasure of playing with 4 groups over the time and it was memorable. I even befriended 2-3 more guys and they regularly invite me when they're playing with their friends. So, I totally understand you. If you really want to get in the game, learn every trick and corners of a map, I'm kinda of an expert on it too. I already taught more than 10 of my friends. After my teachings, you can slowly get into playing with strangers or more experienced friends of yours. There are also tons of helpful guides in the community page that can help you get familiar with basic stuff.

Before 2015, I believe that most magic games allowed you to get new cards each time you win with a deck. Of course some prefer to grind and play against weakest AI decks and then get into multiplayer but it's manageable to play with others with the starting deck too. It should take you more than 5 hours to unlock a whole deck. It also needs a good understanding of abilities and cards of the most played decks. You can pause each time your opponent draws a card, but it's a little unnerving for them. Oh and those who buy unlocking cards dlcs don't have any advantage over you that you can't encounter in any other battle. Most of them want to try the ultimate power of a deck for a few hours and get back to their original one as it doesn't take time for a skilled player to unlock the cards gradually.

I bought one or two deck packs to unlock new playstyles but none of them are high-tier and noob-friendly. There's just bounce and boon but it requires a thorough knowledge of the game, when to burn, sweep or save cards. Others are fun at best, but are not quite up to par with default high-tier decks. Usually the white decks are the more-user friendly decks that can dominate with good drawing or planning. Blue and black decks are also great but need a little more practicing. Removing useless cards are also important and there are lots of builds out there, namely: http://www.toptiertactics.com/

Oh and no, although I appreciate the gesture, I can't accept Worms Pinball as I already have seizure problem and it looks like the kind of game that would hurt my eyes with constant flashing.

The batman arkham game series. I see you've played arkham origins. The other 2 games follow on from that ones story. The combat system is similar and amazing. If you liked arkham origins then you will definitely like these.

As for indie games Full mojo rampage is a great game. Its a rogue like game that has some persistent upgrades out of the game. It has an amazing soundtrack and beatiful graphics. Their is a lot of randomness and variety in the gameplay and there is many different characters to choose to play as. Since it is a rogue like game if you want to play it to completion you can except alot of hours worth of gameplay.

I'd suggest putting some time into Starbound. I find it a great procedurally generated sandbox. The amount of creativity put into it by it's developers is enormous and it can keep you playing for hours on end with enough content to give it a high replayability level. Personally, I find it more fun when played on co-op, but the singleplayer is just as fun, too.

Also, I see that you logged 54 hours in Binding of Isaac. Although it's not in your inventory, BoI:Rebirth is a great remake of it with bugfixes, added content, and more. I, personally would suggest it more than Starbound, but it wasn't in your inventory.

· The bureau: x-com declassified is a pretty decent game with a nice plot. It's basically the, now classic, cover based, Third person shooter with some nice twists. you command your team mates in the middle of the battle, telling them where to cover and what to attack. it's more action packed than the rest of the X-com games, but the gameplay is good enough to enjoy the story.

· X-Com enemy unknow/within is an awesome turn based strategy and it allows you a lot of freedom, it's just too much to explain in one reply.

· The darkness II: it has an awesome gameplay, really fun to play. nothing really complicated, linear FPS, but it's pure fun.

· Both Trine games, awesome plataform based games. the first Trine was recently updated to a new engine (the same that Trine 2 uses) and it's one of the best good looking games from the past times. decent puzzles, good gameplay (switching between 3 different characters).

· Gunpoint is an awesome indie tittle. i don't want to spoil you the fun, so, no description.

Oh damn you have so many good games not played at all. Here we go.

Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 1-3. Personally I've played only the 3rd one, but it's hilarious! The story is simple, but enjoyable, the graphics are oldie, but damn cool and the soundtrack is enjoyable.

Half-Life 2. I think I don't need to explain this one, do I?

Sniper Elite V2. The story is meh, you have to save a nazi good guy, then destroy some nazi stuff, then kill some bad nazi guy, bla bla bla... But the gameplay is awesome! The stealth elements are quite good(the only thing I could complain is that you can't shoot lambs(WHY!!!) and you can not use others people's shots to camouflage yours, which was possible in the previous game), the maps are quite linear, yet they are pretty large so you can sort of plan your strategy. The biggest point in this game is the sniping(which is quite obvious :P) but when you are about to shoot, you have to think about how the bullet flies, the wind, the heart beating. And then you have the X-Ray cam. So much awesome! And sometimes the shots you make can even surprise you(I have a lot of e.g. but you have to see it by yourself)!

Uplink. Hacking Simulator before it was cool. I can't really describe you what the game is about. Is basically create steam bots, add people in those accounts, send phishing links and be rich! xD Just kidding. It's a cool game, if you are really into computers and hacking.

What is with all these threads lately? I blame Psychoclown!

On a legit note though I'd play the following if you don't want a "AAA" game:

Arma Cold War Assault (seriously Cold War Era showdown between NATO and PACT on a dozen square kilometer Islands with Tanks, Infantry and Aircraft slugging it out all together, what is not to like?)
Endless Legend
Earth 2160 (Not the best of RTS games but a highly underrated one.)

Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter
You should play this game because you won it from our group and I wanted to win it too:P Kidding, but massive props for all that time spent with true classics:Baldur's Gate 1 and 2. I still need to finish my EE playthrough of the first one. I see you also spent a lot of time on FTL, many more than me, I own a drm-free version. It's a blash to play.

Looking through games we both own, I can see several I'd recommend in a heartbeat. It depends on how much you enjoy the genres though. My first major recommendation is Crusader Kings 2: First of all, it's probably got the best UI that Paradox has ever made for one of their classic Clausewitz engine games (EU, Victoria, HOI series, etc). Furthermore, whereas other grand strategy games are focused on developing your nation-state, CK2 is focused on developing your dynasty. The difference is vast; the latter allows you to take a more personal stake in an alternate history where your family line is the emergent factor. It can seem overwhelming trying to deal with a myriad things at once but once you've spent some time leading a tiny kingdom (a lot of people recommend beginning with one of the provinces in Ireland or Bohemia as a duke) and have played around with the map options it starts to make sense. There are a lot of events to oversee and a lot of decisions to make, particularly regarding your family in terms of succession and maintaining your hold on the throne. I don't know if you own the DLCS but when I first tried the game through Gamersgate (back when Paradox still owned them) I had the vanilla version and tried starting at the beginning of the Hundred Years War as England. Protip:Don't overtax all your vassals then call on them to raise their armies to defend English holdings in Ireland whilst you have as much sex as possible with mistresses.
The game is a definite timesink, although the "pause-and-play" aspect is nice because you can sit there for hours plotting moves before actually committing to anything. The ultimate armchair emperor game.

Disciples II: Gallean's Return-It's been called a HOMM clone but that isn't really accurate. Alright well...the setting isn't unique, the tropes are familiar, and the music isn't anything to get excited about but the gameplay, particularly tactics, is a huge step forward for the genre. You're focused on leveling not just a hero but also his small army of creatures. The game is almost more like leading an adventuring party that levels up as they fight monsters, gain treasure, buy and sell magic items, and advance the story. Just a word of warning, apparently sometime in the last couple of years it stopped working well with WIN 7 64-bit. I had XP the last time I played it and got a new laptop with 8.1 unfortunately so I've not tried to play.

I actually enjoy sharing my gaming love so let me see...

This is actually from my all-too-brief review for Mount and Blade:Warband
Cannot recommend this game highly enough. One of the most exhilirating and satisfying gaming experiences you will ever have. A glorious combination of deep combat mechanics, kingdom management, and sandbox roleplay, there's really no other game like it in existence.
The mods Floris Mod Pak, A Clash of Kings(still beta), and 1257 AD push the envelope and expand the gameplay in exciting new ways.

Hope these help.Game on!

The Lord of the Rings: War in the North.
Personally, I really enjoyed the loremaster gameplay and thought the story was pretty good - it reminded me of the epic story in LOTRO. Then again, I am admittingly a huge ME fan and may be a bit biased. I didn't find the other two characters quite as fun but I've always preferred jack of all trades spellcasters. I would also recommend playing it with at least one friend, since the AI does not exactly shine.

Others than above recommendation,

I see you have Last Remnant, strategy JRPG hidden gem, although you need to play pass first boring part until you have full control over union and 12 union size where real fun gameplay begins, also check wikia for min-maxing and all quests for hardest final boss.

Van Helsing 2, I just finish it week ago, it's fun game, I feel it have more engaged ARPG games, gameplay and customization, more fun when playing with friend and heroics difficulty.

I see you have play a lot of FTL, you may interesting in Dungeon of the Endless, if you like on board combat with rogue-like, and tower defense with co-op multiplayer as a bonus.
