So I got out from work, helped a friend with moving, grabbed a beer with him and got home. And I saw Assassins Creed: Black Flag on sale on Humble Bundle. And I brought it immediately without checking that it's a Uplay key not a Steam one (because I'm dumb).
I know it's not a big deal, but I like keeping my games on Steam.

So Is there any chance that I can activate it on Steam / find someone who willing to trade it for a steam key (I'm even considering giving a few dollar game in plus).

I know I can add any game separately to appear in my steam library, but I'm not interested in that.

And for those who will say that trading here is against the rules and I should move to Steam Trades: I'm totally aware of that, I'm not really want to trade here just asking for advice and I don't event have an account there and I'm not intended to create one.

Anyway If you took the time to read my crappy first post here is a giveaway for you: Sacred Citadel

You can't activate it on Steam, and don't know if anyone would be willing to trade for a Steam copy, but you can always make a topic on SteamTrades and try.

As for not having an account there, its a sister site to SG and uses the same login. Your account.

Thanks for the heads-up. I haven't known it's a sister site, honestly I never even checked the site. I was only reading about it in the forums, but I never tried it. And maybe I never will. I'm not really into trading and I'm not even familiar with this kind of things, so I don't really know who should I trust in the light of the lots of scamming I was reading about.

But thanks anyway.

If you need someone to check the guy out if you are going to trade I wouldn't mind double checking for you/ giving you tips :P

um, saying you don't want to post on steamtrades because you are afraid of scammers doesn't make much sense after you've learned that users that register for one site (steamgifts or steamtrades) automagically have the same account created on the sister site. so a scammer would also be able to read your post in this forum.

as jbondguy007 already pointed out: ubisoft titles still need an uplay account, even if you activate them on Steam. In fact you will need to run both Steam and Uplay if you've got an AC game on Steam (not sure if that's also true for AC 1 / AC 2, but I've heard that it's a fact for Black Flag).

I actually like Uplay compared to other DRMs. (I only have Driver San Francisco on Uplay though)

While it remains unactivated, you can ask HIB for a refund and see if they'll oblige.

I don't think if they will refund it, because it's my fault that I didn't checked it. But maybe I'll give it a try. Thanks.

Humble support is nice, it's worth a shot as long as you don't redeem it

Ubisoft games are linked to Uplay automatically.
Basically, adding the non-Steam copy of the game to your Steam library will result in pretty much the same thing as owning it on Steam, except for the game count/achievements.
(This is an assumption, mostly. :P)

It won't show up as an owned game, either.

That's what I was referring to when I said "Game count".

There are no Steam listed achievements to start with.

Don't worry, you aren't the only one! I did that with a game but sadly it was Yuplay! (worse then Uplay) I actually somehwhat like Uplay compared to the rest, other then steam of course ;)

well...even if you have the steam version, you also need uplay, so it does not really make a difference

Reddit could also be useful for this. head on over to /r/SteamGameExchange and see what they can do.

The game is Uplay only, so it's completely irrelevant. There are ZERO steam features for the game: http://store.steampowered.com/app/242050/ so you are not missing out on anything whatsoever by not having it redeemed on Steam. You can add it as a non-Steam game if you want Steam's overlay to show up while playing.

You won't get much even if you sell the game... So might as well play it on uplay.

I don't have any advice (sorry), but have a bump... maybe someone will turn up who can help you.

Stop whining and redeem the game, it's the same deal in the end as you are forced to startup uplay on steam in order to play the game... sigh.

Or if you want to be a good guy, drop the key to someone you see fit that diserves it, you won't see that person whining about getting an uplay-only activation code for game that was released not so long ago.

You get the samething in the end, only difference is that one is tracked on steam/uplay, the other one just on uplay, steam has no achievements or any unique thing about it, so it's no big deal.

Wanting Steam keys instead of Uplay kays is an old and common issue. Every attempt to request any help from Ubi has met with failure. The difference in value between a Steam and Uplay key tends to be large, so I'm not sure how much luck you'll have there, but suppose it isn't impossible and you can try. Digital goods refunds are rare, but that may be your best option.
