Am I correct in assuming that were I to win a gift for a game, I'd be automatically withdrawn from future giveaways for that same game? I thought this was probably the case but I wanted to make sure I'm not going to accidentally ruin someone else's giveaway too, even if the chances of it happening are absolutely tiny :P.

Thanks!

No.

If you don't update your Steam account, you can still enter giveaways of games you own.

But if you are caught, you are a dead man.

Also you have to withdraw yourself from any giveaways you've entered. The system doesn't do it for you.

I don't think it does this.

You need to withdraw yourself or have the guy reroll the gift if you forget if I am not mistaken.

Super unlikely but no I don't think you're automatically withdrawn. I really wouldn't worry bout it though.

It will display that you already own the game and you won't be able to submit an entry. This does not apply if the game is put in a bundle or a combination pack, including if it's a combination of base game+DLC for that game. You can also go under account and sync your account to display the newly activated game, and then also under account click filter games. Giveaways with the game will not be displayed then.

If you've won and you also have entries for that game in a giveaway that ends later it will still count you as entered and deduct points when the giveaway is over.

I meant if I enter 5 giveaways for a particular game now and then check them all tomorrow, is there a chance I have won two and therefore ruin one person's giveaway :(.

Thanks for the responses guys, I'll go ahead and withdraw myself for any I won't to be around to check on soon after. It's not worth being impatient if there's a chance of this happening, even if it is tiny! :o

You don't need to withdraw. If you win more than one copy, let the second giver know, and they can re-roll and have a new winner.

You can ask the individual to submit a reroll of all current entries and it will choose someone else. It is a very simple matter and the giveaway owner has a button that does it.

I wouldn't sweat it if you entered a few and saw you won two, simply tell them and they will reroll. :)

Ok thanks :) I'll try to avoid it then but it's good to know that it doesn't totally ruin things if I can't be around and miss checking on something.

You're not automatically withdrawn. There have been people who have won the same game twice from separate giveaways.

It's also not a good idea because some giveaways are fake. So if someone wins a fake giveaway, then gets kicked from a legitimate one for the same game, they will be angry.

Automatically withdrawing people from giveaways when that game appears in their Library is a better idea though.

Yatterman.

He won SR3 TWICE at the exact same time given by the same person.

Yeah I won railworks twice at exactly the same time. Also prototype 2twice because I accidentally forgot to remove an entry. I guess the policy depends on who you want to help more - the giver or receiver. Givers still have to deal with rerolls
