Suggestion: Can we have a possibility to write something in our profile?

That is one of the few best suggestions I've heard in a while. However the gifter should schedule such giveaways to either end before or after such situations...

There should be a character limit unless you contributed. And for every $5 you contribute, you can type in an additional 15 characters!!!!!!!!

Can be an 'away' button, warning the winner that the giver might take time to answer. Better yet, provide the means to enter the expected return date.

When I was away for a week's cruise a month ago I noted it on my Steam profile page. I figured that if anyone wanted to know where I was, that would be the most logical place to look first.

This feature would be nice.
