It is accurate a lot of the time but it's not always accurate. It's said many times to me that I can't run a game when I can run it on the highest settings... so just keep that in mind when using it.

Why is this not an actual link on the store page? Why?!

You don't need Vista/7 to run dishonored. I have XP on my rig and I've beaten dishonored on it. Unless they've changed the specs since I played...
Edit:
Just checked specs on the steam store page, it says it requires vista/7 OS minimum but it's running on DirectX 9 which is still within the auspices of XP

I've frequently played games with graphics cards that are nowhere near the level required

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat...
No, I refuse to believe this PC can run Dishonored. I'ma do some other checks about games that I know are working or not, brb.

Okay, so according to this little bastard, my rig could actually run these:
Magicka, Crysis, Metro 2033, Arma 3, The Witcher 2, CS: GO
My system specifics: Geforce 6600 series GPU, AMD Athlon 2800+ 1600 Mhz CPU, 1 GB RAM.
Yeah, this thing ain't so accurate. While this PC can surprise me with what it can still run decently (Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light comes to my mind, I was actually able to finish it on this without lagging), I for one know that CS: GO and Magicka aren't running on this, and there's no way fucking ARMA 3 would even get to a menu with a setup like this.

For those who have browsers that don't let this trick work. just make a shortcut on your desktop with this steam address as the target.

Just type:
steam://checksysreqs/game-ID
where game-ID is the ID shown on the addressbar on the store page of each game and Steam will automatically check if your PC can run the game.
For example: Dishonored
steam://checksysreqs/205100
