I don't know if xbox players had access to l4d1 maps on l4d2, but that'd be really cool for them.
Never had Gold, so not sure about them, but my copy of Left 4 Dead 2 (360) only had the regular levels. I had both on 360 though, so that wasn't a worry.
Team Fortress 2 on 360 (through The Orange Box) is really far behind compared to the PC version, but if you just wanted to shoot, its great. No hats and such.

Team Fortress 2 without all the hats? Tell me that's not true...

I don't know that it's not "good" anymore, but rather that back then... It was simpler, it may be just me, but I actually tend to like simpler games, ones that don't have hundreds of different weapons to choose from. Not that hundreds of weapons isn't also nice at times, great even.
Comment has been collapsed.
I really just consider the items in tf2 to add to the color palette. But in reality, most of the weapons in tf2 have a teaching ability to them which you can incorporate into the use of other weapons. But for the most part, stock is the best in tf2. So just ignore the other weapons, just know how they work when people try using them shenanigans against you and wreck them with yo skillz. I really don't know how to explain tf2. It has gotten to the point where I just have to tell people to just play the game and realize tf2 isn't as crazy as everyone thinks it is. It's ridiculous, over the top, and hysterical. But it's definitely not uncertain and just bullshit. Things make sense in that game (except the hitboxes. Cuz fuck that.)
Comment has been collapsed.
You can easily ignore the entire trading scene. It's just an easy way to get different hats/weapons. Just make sure if you do play, and you buy to get the "Premium for life" (Which I absolutely love as a f2p model btw, 5 bucks and no one is really "ahead" of you? Fantastic!", don't buy weapons, buy keys. :P

If you buy 2 giftapults and use one to give away the other, Valve should give you an achievement for that.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, had tf2 on PS3, but admittedly was still a fun game!
Comment has been collapsed.
Yep valve did only a few patches on those games, on 360 there were no patches because only the first one is free, you actually had to pay to publish patches so pretty much there's only basic stuff there. I even spent a lot of time playing tf2 for 360 :p (it was terrible and I switched to the pc version)

39.99 would be a great deal at first
maybe 50$
thing is... HL2 came out with great new things in the gaming industry like physics etc i remember those E3 vids with shooting planks you know how many hours we spent shooting planks into pieces and amazed we were.
now HL3 must do this.. something so amazing that it can revolutise the gaming industry now im not sure what it could be but maybe thats why Valve isnt doing anything yet or they are and its quiet difficult with todays tech to do.
i would even settle for Episode 3
L4D3 mmm dont know anything about that.. i would say EvolvE is the next best thing to L4D which is def gonna be on my gaming list
Comment has been collapsed.
I heard about that. What is this "EvolvE" about? I don't know, I don't really care if HL3 "revolutionizes" gaming or not. I just want to play the game and continue it's fantastic level planning and it's story. After visiting the wikia regarding the HL series, I realized that the HL series is way more interesting than I first thought. Not to mention valves attention to details in the game. I almost feel ashamed for overlooking nearly everything in that game. And I thought I was one for loving all details about games (I have to be into the game though. Some games really just try to cram lore down your throat.)
Comment has been collapsed.
EvolvE is a 4 v 1 competitive type shooter, where 4 players play hunters, and 1 player is the monster. In the beginning, the monster is weak, but as he hunts and feeds on the local wildlife in the map, he grows bigger, stronger, and gains new powers. Basically the hunters want to find the monster as quickly as possible, so he doesn't have time to become strong, and the monster wants to avoid the hunters for as long as possible. This makes things interesting, as I believe it's being balanced so the starter monster can handle 1 hunter, so if all 4 hunters split up, they have to be careful so they aren't ambushed by the monster and killed.

rad, looks like an action game with some deep horror elements under the surface. Too bad i'm probably going to need a far better computer to actually play it. I really should invest in that. Getting behind on pc games I want to play is starting to effect my emotional mood.

First of all: "After the stellar L4D2 cast," BAHAHAHAHAHAHA
The L4D2 characters sucked ass compared to the first game. Ellis was the only one ANYONE wanted to play because he was the only one with a real character, and even his revolved around "...me n mah buddy keith" stories.
Anyway, HL3/L4D3 I predict will be $60 + at least $20 for the season pass.
inb4 "Muh valv wuld nevar do that"
You're right. It may just be an insane amount of microtransactions. Oooh, you could buy new HEV suits... And L4D2 could have hats AND weapons! A CS:GO/TF2 lovechild! This 'gon be gr8.

For starters, yeah I'd personally say I exaggerated the crew's personality and charm.
But Bill was just a war hero with knowledge and how to survive, granted I still adore Bill god rest his soul. He didn't have much more going from him than the common bickering between nick and rochelle. It was equal to Bill and Francis's fighting.
Zoey is just a girl living in the apocalypse taking it day by day and living with the crew.
Louis was a boring guy driving a desk and went to a shooting range when on breaks before the apocalypse.
And Francis is probably the worst character i've ever seen "I hate everything" wow, how interesting.
L4D2
There was definitely a stronger sense of team unity and that feel that comes with when you get to know someone. They definitely felt like they were together for a long time and made memories and all that good stuff.
Anywho, Coach didn't have much going for him aside from common jokes about him liking food. But he did have things in-common with Ellis.
Ellis was just awesome, Nick kept his life a secret, but it was done in a humorous way and he kept pushing forward with a sense of dark humor and he had that connection built with the teammate where he had their backs through this thing.
Then there's Rochelle, Rochelle is more of a Francis to me, which is ironic because it was shown in a L4D2 trailer that they could potentially be companions (until she said she hated francis's jacket)
But iunno, definitely a decent cast.
Anywho, L4D3 being 59.99 is ridiculous. 49.99 would be far more likely. As much as it pains me to say, HL3 being 59.99 can be possible. Urgh. Also I can see potential DLC, but that'd be for like. Added story, but that'd be stupid, cause then they should just continue making episodes. The season pass thing is just ridiculous. They'd let the community make that content. If Valve started a season pass thing, that'd leave a bad taste in their mouth as much as it'd leave one in ours anyone who knows valves history.
Anywho, yay for responding honestly to potential trolls! Woo! /o/

I'll admit I was trolling a bit, however Francis' hate stories were equal to Ellis' Keith stories, thus making him just as solid a character as Ellis, who is almost without a doubt the strongest character in the second game. So, if Francis is your least liked character in the first game, that's saying something. I think the only reason there was a stronger sense of unity in the second game was because they actually bothered to add a backstory for the characters, and the campaigns all went together for their escape. L4D just sort of threw everything together and went in the direction of "all of these campaigns are different 'movies'". While a connection can be made, its certainly not as strong. Still, I prefer L4D in terms of characters, 'scariness' (just something about the graphics style of the first one made it scary when it came out, then L4D2 was just a big joke), and campaign environments. L4D2 had "better" graphics, more gib and death animations, melee weapons, and more campaigns when you factor the expansions and L4D one map ports, etc. Still, it wasn't the same for me, and a lot of people I've heard from.
The season pass thing was kind of a joke, since that's obviously the way the gaming industry is going, however I have faith that Valve will simply retain their trend of thousands of microtransactions for cosmetic garbage in their future games. Maybe not HL3 assuming there is no multiplayer, but I think its a big possibility for L4D3. Just because it doesn't seem to fit the game doesn't mean they won't do it, I'm sure Counter Strike players never would have thought it'd happen to them.
Finally, I'd like to add that a $59.99 price tag isn't to be ruled out, since these new games are supposedly both to be on the Source 3 engine. Half Life 2 was $54.99 on release (source), and L4D was $59.99 (at least on Xbox 360, not sure about Steam) (source), and L4D2 was $49.99 (source)
EDIT: I forgot to mention the fact that the L4D2 special infected are garbage. AI Director: "The survivors have been in the same place trying to revive their comrade for more than THREE WHOLE SECONDS... Better throw a spitter at 'em!!!"
Comment has been collapsed.
Francis felt like an incredibly boring/annoying character whereas Ellis is a very lively funny character to me.
I really don't see the hate behind the cosmetic microtransactions. It's literally your choice to have it. It doesn't make you any better at the game or anything. It just personalizes your gaming experience, if someone chooses to let their lack of cosmetic items get them down. That's their fault. Or if they let it bother them. They're just items, if you don't care. Then don't care, and keep playing the shooty game. I only have cosmetic items in tf2 because I adore the game. But I've only spent like 12 bucks on it. And in CS:GO I spent maybe 5 or less.
I personally don't really care about the AI director, to me it just makes the game harder and I find that welcome.

Nah HL2 Opposing Force has to come out first, then HL2E3.

HL2 OPPOSING FORCE? YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Was supposed to but I think they canned it. Not 100% sure on that.. They might be just making it part of HL3.

According to rumors, you'll be able to put hats on mr. freeman.

HL2 was $54.99 at launch and that was in 2004. Considering inflation, I would be very surprised to see it for under $50. The game will sell millions of copies no matter what, seems like it would be throwing money away to price such a hyped and long sought after game like that for $35 or something.
Also, L4D1 cast > L4L2 cast.

Why on earth should Valve sell Half Life 3 for less than $60? If they sold it at $30 it would be like if Jesus Christ was resurrected and you spat in his face.

Even if it is $100 people would still buy it
Cause well.. it's HL3

$33.33
(Half-life)^2: A quarter of life confirmed
Now seriously, i think that 29.33 will be a fair price

Wait, there is gonna be a Half-Life 3? By this time I've given up all hope of ever seeing another Half-Life game.
Comment has been collapsed.
They've been working on different Half Life projects since Episode 2 was released, so we'll probably see something new Half Life related eventually.

Just like with everything else, will wait till initial hype is over, and buy it after a few price drops in a 75% sale.

Considering all the good games I've bought that cheap on Steam, I'm already going to hell.

People would pay $100+ for the Beta, just like what happened with Dota 2 and CS:GO.
If it would be up to me, I'd put it at $39.99

I bet HL3 will be most disappointing game ever. Those all people waiting and expecting pure magic... I'm start to think that Valve never make this game, because they won't put themselves in swamp of players expectations. ;-) Just imagine that flame if game would be bad..

I don't know, I don't really care. I just want to play HL3 and have fun, that's all I care about. Is it a good game? "yes" then I don't care. Why does everyone have to be "ERRRRMERGURD NEXT-GEN NEW SHITNADJFEHSNAJFNJKLRN" I don't care, I feel like most people these days aren't even gamers the way they approach games. In my eyes, videogames are almost becoming like celebrities and whenever they do something "wrong" people get all up on their shit when they should be worrying about their own goddamn lives.
I don't know. I'm just whatever mode activated over here.
Comment has been collapsed.
Just save money, you would probably be able to buy the game by the time it comes out, and also by 7 4K Televisions, 3 High end PC's and half the games on Steam.
Comment has been collapsed.
By the time HL3 comes out 59.99 will be a perfectly reasonable price due to inflation

I don't know why in my mind I thought that the fabled HL3 or any other long-awaited valve games wouldn't cost le money. But how much do you think HL3 is going to be when it comes out? I'm kind of worried about valve pricing it ridiculously high.
I was worried about 39.99 at first, but that doesn't sound nearly as ridiculous as 49.99, or 59.99. Sheesh. At the same time, they make so much goddamn money, I don't really get why they couldn't just price it at 29.99 or between that and 34.99.
I also wonder how good L4D3 is going to be and how much money that's going to cost. After the stellar L4D2 cast, I don't really know how the new crew's gonna top that or be on-par even. I hope that game doesn't cost too much either, but I don't really imagine it having a good player base in the beginning though. Because L4D2 has so much mod community lovin' it's gonna take awhile for L4D3 to really get kickin' and have the L4D2 players transfer. I really hope they don't dump the L4D1 maps until and if there's a l4D4, because there'd be so many maps to play on and you'll have a map for every mood and they'll take way longer to become tasteless in your mouth. At least it'd be rad to have numerous amounts of maps to play on that aren't mods.
I don't know if xbox players had access to l4d1 maps on l4d2, but that'd be really cool for them. They'd have so much access to content they can't get on pc. Since they don't have mods or anything, at least they can play a bunch of maps nonetheless.
