Personally I sold all that I got today and made 4.83€ :) How did it go for you?

UPDATE: Made a total of 6.83 after getting all my available cards, spent ~3.50 of it by buying one TF2 key and one TF2 robo key, spent ~3 of it by getting a complete badge. HERE IS THE BEST PART: I traded the regular TF2 key for FARCRY 3 BLOOD DRAGON(!!!) :D

Made $4, than spend half of it to complete a set and built a badge.

Gotta give Valve props for thinking of ways for us to give them money with a smile on our faces.

Didn't notice Deus Ex was only $5 today! I got to get a couple more cards to sell then I'll be happy man!

I'm not sure how much I got from selling my trading cards but I guess it's about $5, I have $6.53 in my wallet now that I made extra from steam beta invites :)

At least their plan got me Deus Ex

lapiopoop

I got Hydrophobia: Prophecy after selling :jarate: emoticon. Other money has gone to completing more badges, to get more emoticons and backgrounds. Now I'm sure that was not a great investment.

XtremeNugget (11 months ago)

Was great, earned 7$, built a set for CSGO, still got 10 card drops remaining!

badaboom (11 months ago)

wanted to sell them for 1$ to get cs go but then found out that they dropped in value to 50 cents each

craig588 (11 months ago)

Made 11$ probably will hold it 'till the summer sale.

Wise one, I will probably do the same with the cash I earned

Cha0sSt0rm (11 months ago)

Got 4 tf2 ones, sold them all. Bought a key. Used that to buy Red Faction Guerrila.

Quite happy really. I don't need Steam to be it's own game, plus it gets stupid with the limit to how many you can collect.

What's the limit? I've only gotten 2 today.

UnusualBadger

Half of the cards. The other half you have to get from others through trading or market.

Zrr00

That's kind of lame, oh well, I guess I can sell my duplicates on the Market and hopefully get enough to buy what I need.

UnusualBadger

hulaballoon (11 months ago)

where do you see/ how do you know if you've gotten any cards?

You need to be in the trading card beta, then hover over the community tab / button / link in Steam and go to the badges link.

Cha0sSt0rm

Check your steam inventory. You will also get a message saying you have new items in your inventory.

I got Mini Ninjas,Zombie vs Aliens bundle for 3 cards.I know it's not the best trade ever but it's something.

thedoverkid (11 months ago)

With my cards I got Metro 2033, Dungeon Defenders Collection and Humble Bundle Double Fine :-) With my beta's I also got another Dungeon Defenders (one for girlfriend, one for me) and The Ship - again 2 copies for me and the girlfriend. I'm happy!

Sklurm (11 months ago*)

I was very fortunate. I was one of the first accepted into the beta and sold the cards I got instantly. Bought some backgrounds (blue digital camo is my fav so far), emotes, more cards. Save the rest for summer sale.

ThreePipeProblem (11 months ago*)

Excellent, sold many cards and invites for 10 bucks and managed to get TF2 badge and lvl 2 Don't starve badge. Including a 25% off Zeno Clash 2!

Hardgrave (11 months ago)

Finished a Half Life 2 set, got :gman: and a nice background (which I have kept). Sold the rest of the cards I had and :gman: for about $8.25 and bought 4 TF2 keys which I in turn got Portal 2. I say it is nice so far and I can't wait til they add more games.

smythe (11 months ago)

Initially sold cards for a profit, then weakened and spent it on cards. Now selling emoticons and backgrounds on the market.
If all goes to plan I'll break even and be at level 10.

sviat93 (11 months ago*)

lol I plan to get 2 copies of Borderlands 2 :D, one will be for my friend since I sold his cards too :D, the only bad thing I did is I sold my first 4 don't starve cards for only for 0.57€ or 0,73$, I never sold anything on market, so this was an error of a beginner :(, but anyways I plan to get 1x Borderlands 2 copy for free, and another for half price of the sale price :D, also some money will be returned because some value will pay my friend.

Hey I have a question if someone can help, how to get cards on Dota 2 and TF2? as I heard I have to be premium, and to do it I have to buy something from their official store, is this right? these are the stores no http://www.dota2.com/store/ and http://store.teamfortress.com/?

Yes.

pielord17

You need to have had Premium or bought an in-game item BEFORE the beta started. If you did, you'll get your 4-5 drops.

If you didn't, then you will get ONE card drop for every 9$ dollars you spend in-game.

for people that have sold cards is 50 cents a reasonable price for tf2 cards?

Go with the current market price. Its around 50 for each card. And I think it's going down because tf2 cards are very common.

Zrr00

Really depends on the cards, TF2 cards go for around 30-40 cents (euro) while the other go for 50-70 cents (euro)

Daban

ibanez543 (11 months ago)

is it worth selling these now or keeping them for a later date to sell? I honestly dont see the point in collecting them for the badge crafts.

For selling I would say now, or soon.

pielord17

If you can see the future well enough to answer this question, you already retired to your own private island and don't waste any time on steamgifts... :)

Maybe in the future they sell for $0.01 like tf2 crates, maybe valve stops this program tomorrow and they are worth more than buds. Good luck! :)

fiftykyu

It depends if the drops will reset. Some people say it will, others say there is a drop limit per game. If so, then I'd guess prices would go up. If not, there will be more drops and prices will go down or stay the same.

TL;DR I don't know.

JooJooFace

They must reset, unless Valve goal is to make money off idiots creating 10 fake accounts just to buy games-giving-cards to be able to get enough cards to level badges up to level 5.

And seeing how Valve is trying to impress Gordon Gecko, that wouldn't be that surprising...

PsyKo

No resets.
Valve already stated as much.

ss9c1

There MUST be resets. Otherwise, 10 accounts with all games must work together to get those badges to level 5 - and that's exclude foil badges.

Unless Valve plan to close this whole thing in next month, that is.

PsyKo

Um, no, resets aren't a must. Badges aren't compulsory.
Also:
1. New users
2. People who don't want badges and sell them on the market

Vincent2128

To make one badge at level 5, you need 10 people without resets. Beside few people who will get it now, in a month everyone will forget about it because it will be simply not-obtainable for most users. With all that fuzz about new feature, they either need to allow people getting it, or just scrap it now before it will turn into parody.

Well, unless Valve will open cards shop, taking massive hit into their PR image.

PsyKo

But at this point if they announce that it will reset then tons of people will get angry anyways. Don't see why they would change it.

pielord17

True. But AFAIK noone said there won't be resets outside of Steam Support, which everyone knows is "teh bezt", so they are covered here.

But like I said, without resets this will be "show other people you're rich and stupid to buy worthless shit" - not sure if that's the message Valve want to give. On the other hand, whole popularity of TF2 exists on that rule...

PsyKo

The card FAQ said there will be no resets.

pielord17

Ok, it wasn't there at first, thanks for update.
But I still think Valve is something better than greedy quack and they will want everyone to be part of this thing. With current system, they say "to have full level 5 badges and show you like some game - be privileged rich fan-boy and give us money".

PsyKo

I think there's no guarantee that prices will drop. That will depend on how many boosters are created for each badge crafted. Since you consume about 6 cards to craft a badge and the booster gives only 3, the number of available cards should diminish over time making them rare and consequently more expensive. Of course people will keep buying more games and getting more drops, but by doing so, these new buyers also become eligible for getting boosters and crafting badges, and once again, availability of cards diminishes. One may argue that at some point, many people will have reached the maximum level 5 of badges, so they wouldn't be interested on cards anymore and prices will drop, but I'm pretty sure Steam is aware of that, and to prevent that from happening, they already hinted on their plan to create more "series" of cards for each game (notice that all cards have "series 1" below them). Anyway, Steam has ways of controlling all of this, and they will act to keep prices as high as they can, since these will translate in money being spent back on Steam.

Grau

No resets. You have to collect the rest from others or buy the games on alts and collect the cards.

Zrr00

Twitchious (11 months ago*)

I can't get Dota 2 cards even though I have bought things from the Dota store before I got the beta. However I sold my dupes back when they were like a buck each, then re-spent the money to get level 2 in TF2 because I was bored lol.

Gotem (11 months ago)

got lucky and got a foil card. still wondering how much it will really sell for, they seem to be around $20 at the moment

twistedmetalero (11 months ago*)

i got 0.87, i maybe buy the rest just to get the whole set so i can get a nice background

Incognitoe (11 months ago)

10 euro's. i got a foil card which sold for 5 euro's. Bought CS:GO for a friend. I bought a dota2 key + something from the store to try and get those cards aswell but after reading the rules that was impossible. So wasted 2,50 there :(

GomBas (11 months ago)

Fireman97r (11 months ago)

guys i got a beta access to but i dont know how this works can somebody tell me ?

Just play one of the games in their list. You will get half the cards needed to craft a badge for that game. Collect the rest by trading, craft the badge to increase your level and get extra features like extra slots in your friend list, background images, emotes in chat etc.
