Hmmms, I'm weird: I do enjoy anime, but I'm not obsessed with it.
If I happen to come across a serie, I will like it and most likely continue binge watching.
But if for some reason I don't, I simply don't watch any for months/years.

I'm probably the same. I also can't watch any that have more than 2 seasons or more than 50 episodes.
I don't fancy those seemingly endless anime where a fight scene lasts a whole week. ;)

Oh my god, don't get me started... Remember DBZ?
First 15 min: Recap of previous episodes, like 5 whole minutes of an episode, followed by like a 15 minute previous of the next episodes Q.Q
I actually liked DBZ, but I just stopped bothering watching it because a single fight would last over a week. ;)

I recall hanging out with my friends when we were younger, and as soon as DBZ came on, they ran home.
Not cool. ;)
Comment has been collapsed.
They ran?
Did they live like 20 minutes away? =p
Comment has been collapsed.
They live within a stretch of a 1km road.
But yeah, they literally ran. Never got the hype.

Seirei no Moribito / Cowboy Bebop / Legend of Galactic Heroes / Monster, and many more, let me know if you'd like a thorough list/ratings. But I've kinda stopped watching from last year. :P New releases do not attract me any more....

I wouldn't mind building a list of good to-watch anime. Thanks.

Not really, I've seen some but I prefer to watch TV series ¤_¤
I really liked the beginning of Naruto though.

When I'm alone I watch some movies and anime my fiance doesn't watch.
Then we watch a lot of TV series together.
Haven't watched Naruto.

Thought Attack on Titan was pretty okay for a while but the story was progressing in a really awkward manner where a salute was given like half an episode and flashbacks were constantly happening during the middle of action sequences. Not sure if it's all anime or just AoT that does this but I stopped watching once they changed the intro song.
Comment has been collapsed.
It was rated very highly though.
I have it in my archives to watch eventually.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah maybe I'm just not that into anime

Clannad is my most favorite ever.
Comment has been collapsed.
Not too badly rated. I'll read some reviews before checking it out.
Thanks

Check out After Story too.
Basically, Clannad is life in high school and Clannad After Story is life after that.

And my fav animes are:
Sword Art Online
Steins;Gate
Higurashi no naku koro ni
Code;Geass
Mirai Nikki

Watching Steins;Gate at the moment.
Seems very interesting. I love time travel movies/series when it's well thought out.
Hopefully it doesn't let me down.
Comment has been collapsed.
Some people dislike steins;gate because they saw only some of first eps and it's boring for them but i think that these eps are good introducion for amazing story of this anime.
If you are one of these guys who loves amazing story i highly recommend Kiseijuu, Higurashi no naku koro ni and FMA:Brotherhood

Thanks for the recommendation.
Steins;Gate got me from the first episode when ish happened he couldn't figure out.

Figured this might be the best place to ask, sorry if I guessed wrong :)
Anyone happens to know how that serie is called about that guy that reanimates his dead cat and some dead girl he may/may not love?
(I swear, I'm not a perv! I just remembered I used to watch the first few episodes, and then stopped for some reason)

Pushing Daisies maybe?

Nope, but thanks for the thinking!
It was definately an anime, with some impossible Japanese title my girly blondie brains can't remember ;)
Edit: AAH, Sankarea apparently!

Wasn't thinking anime, even though this is the anime section. ;)

I like anime but I enjoy manga much more. Chobits is one I remember liking.

Unpopular opinion: My favourite is Initial D. What sounds like Hentai at first, is actually a neat and lovely-animated anime about drifting. Worth a shot for every JDM/car guy.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'll check it out.
Car movies, like Fast and Furious are definitely not my thing, but maybe the anime can do better.

I've seen some.. my fav is Sakurasō no Pet na kanojo
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm actually not keen on anime much, but a friend has been buggering me lately to watch stuff and I really enjoyed DRRR, Baccano and Kekkai Sensen.
I also watched stuff like Shingeki no kuno, which is like horseriding, the anime (Dunno what all the hype was about) and I should wath JoJo next.
Comment has been collapsed.
Baccano I've seen.
Was good, but not sure I enjoyed the ending.
Difficult to get people onboard with anime sometimes, but I've managed to convince a few with specific shows.
Comment has been collapsed.
I mean, there's a whole lot of prejudice surrounding it, I liked from Baccano that while it has exposition is not as overly expositiony as most animes (I dunno what's with the trope of people telling you EVERYTHING that is going on and through their heads) it's true tho that the narrative style is unconventional but well. Durarara is from the same guy and I found it good too, and more down to earth than Baccano!
Which shows would that be, btw?
Comment has been collapsed.
I enjoyed Durarara as well. Less thought provoking, but good still.
For my fiance, I got her to start by watching Samurai Shamploo. With each person it's different shows that would appeal to them.
But if you recommend the wrong show, you may have lost them to anime for good.
Comment has been collapsed.
I actually started with Shamploo, but I couldn't get past the art style, and yeah, you have to know how the person is and what he likes because most of the time we associate all the anime with some few examples, and as happens with Western animation too, is often considered childish.
So if you recommend someone who doesn't like high school girls antics, let's say Madoka, that guy won't ever wach anything again.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, I don't get a lot of why there's a substantial amount of anime revolving around schoolgirls Well, technically I do know why :D
Surprisingly, my fiance enjoys animated superhero movies, mostly the Batman and Justice League ones. Maybe anime comes across as too perby or childish, I don't know.
Comment has been collapsed.
The animated SH movies are the shit tbh. I've watched most of them and some of the Batman ones are great ( The one he's old and fight against Superman for example) and the Justice League ones rule too, I LOVED the Flashpoint Paradox.
I think it has to do how people maybe identify anime with weebs (as MLP is linked to bronies) and to be honest weebs ( as any other fandom who takes things too seriously, like Superwholocks or whatever) are really offputing.

I don't have a favourite, but the most hilarious I've ever seen is Detroit Metal City.

Cardcaptor Sakura and Berserk mainly. Also really love the original Sailor Moon series. S was <3

I've heard Sailor Moon was good, but haven't seen it yet.

Laaate, reply, but yes, the old anime is fantastic

Daaaamn. Forgot I even created this thread. :D

Well Outlaw Star and Rouoni Kenshin
Comment has been collapsed.
Rorouni Kenshin was really cool, but just a little bit too long for me.
It should've ended after the battles with Shishio Makoto and his crew.
The last battles weren't as intense.
Comment has been collapsed.
Anime or manga? as in the anime, it entered filler hell after the Kyoto arc and basically got canceled before the author could finish the real final arc in the manga
That and I felt in general it avoided the modern shounen pitfalls.
Comment has been collapsed.
The anime. Haven't read much manga.
Perhaps I should get those for the end of Rorouni Kenshin.
I'm trying to get my hands on the Darker than Black manga...but difficult to source.

Awesome! Thanks for the giveaways, Phoenix ^^
I'm not much of an anime fan myself but I recently just finished watching Eyeshield 21 and it's just too awesome! Sad that they'd wrap up the anime right after the semi-finals. They should at least show until the end of Christmas Bowl =.='

Never heard of this, but it's rated quite highly.
Interested to have a look at it one day.

The positive reviews and minimalistic design is what intrigued me in the first place. Hopefully it's a good puzzle game! Anyways, thanks again for the key! Cheers, have a great weekend ahead ^^
