Not Sure If Free Game? (Backseat Drivers on Steam)

So this game on its store page has the option for "Play Backseat Drivers Friend's Pass" but it seems like it just redeems the game straight up? I'm not exactly sure what it means or if it's a bug. Is it maybe like when you get a beta key that grants full access only to be revoked at a later date?

Regarding the "Friend's Pass," there are restrictions:

  • You need to join the lobby of someone who has a paid copy of the game.
  • You will not receive any drops, cosmetics or achievements.
  • Your records will not appear on the leaderboard.

It seems pointless to me!

They are just following a trend with Friend's pass, but in the end if you want the full experience you just gotta buy the product.

The friend's pass lets you play with someone who has purchased the game. If, during gameplay, a certain action unlocks an achievement, the person who has purchased the game receives it; you, with the friend's pass, do not. As I said before, it's useless to only have a friend's pass.
